BookThe West Country / Cornwall region
Cornwall is a magical mix of golden beaches and rocky coves, towering cliffs and lonely moorland, and friendly towns and villages. West Cornwall is a magnificent peninsula with 36 miles of spectacular coastline which runs from St Ives in the north to Penzance in the south. The breathtaking coastline is blessed with rugged cliffs, golden sands, crystal clear blue waters and is dotted with old tin mines. The stunning scenery can be enjoyed by the many walks along the south west coastal path.
The St Ives / Lelant area
St Ives is one of the most popular Cornish holiday towns, loved down the generations for its great beaches and warm welcome. It is particularly popular with artists for its unique natural light and and is famous for the Tate Gallery which houses Barbara Hepworth sculptures. St Ives has plenty of independent shops and art galleries down its winding cobblestone streets and the use of local produce is favoured in its many fine restaurants and cafes. Lelant is a pretty village that borders the Hayle estuary and is well connected to St Ives by railway. The Lelant Saltings station is the official Park and Ride stop for visitors to St Ives and is only 5 minutes walk from Puffin Cottage. The frequent train arrives in St Ives in 8 minutes, with some breathtaking coastal views along the short train journey. A 'Day Ranger' ticket costs from £2.00 per person and can be used all day long. Further afield, but still within easy reach, are the The Eden Project, St. Michael's Mount, Land's End and the Minack Theatre (built into the cliffs at Porthcurno), amongst many other attractions in the area.

We had a lovely stay here. It was great that the kitchen was well equipped especially with the little but important things like washing up liquid, tea towels, dishwasher tablets and bin liners. It was very clean & homely too. Response: Yes Puffin Cottage is ideally located for hopping on the train to St. Ives. You can leave the car safely at Puffin Cottage. |
