About this location
The Cornwall region
St Ives is a stunningly beautiful town nestled amidst the beaches and wild headlands of West Cornwall. The town grew around the harbor and developed into a maze of narrow, winding streets and alleyways. The sea seems to surround the town and there are five beaches within a few minutes stroll.
Two of these, Porthmeor and Porthminster, are among the five Cornish beaches to have been previously awarded Blue Flags. Porthmeor faces the Atlantic and is the more rugged of the two and is favoured by the surfing community, where as Porthminster is favoured with families, as the sea is alot calmer and safer for children.
These main beaches are supervised by lifeguards.
The town has a host of shops and fine restaurants all snuggled in the narrow streets and along the harbour front. Numerous art galleries including The Tate and Barbara Hepworth Museum are perfect for guests that are looking to explore rich artistic history. There are also many local galleries and working studios throughout the town which are well worth a visit.
