St Ives is an all year resort. The town is famous for its art, glorious sandy beaches, rugged coastline, and even its New Years Evening fancy dress street party and firework display. The mild climate makes it a pleasant place to visit all year round. There is a wide range of restaurants and shops, most of which remain open all year round.

There are numerous galleries displaying and selling art by local artists. There is also the prestigious Tate St Ives, Bernard Leach Pottery, and terrific Barbara Hepworth Museum.

The St Ives School of Painting provides a wide range of courses all year, suitable for beginners through to professionals. The School also runs drop in life classes on Wednesday evenings (7.30pm to 9.30pm) and Saturday mornings and afternoons (10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm) at a cost of £15 for non members. Some materials are included others can be purchased at a reasonably low cost. New comers are most welcome. It's a great place to meet other holiday makers, residents, and artists.
