The Cornwall region

Western Cornwall is probably the most beautiful part of the county, with quaint little villages, tourist attractions and coastal walks, no matter what your interest is you will always find something to do. Whether you want to relax and enjoy this amazing area or get active you certainly wont be bored. From Lands End to St Michaels Mount there are so many treasures to discover.

St Ives

Thanks to warm summers and Britain's mildest climate, the delights of St Ives, and the magic of Cornwall are here to be enjoyed all year round. With the famous Tate gallery and beautiful galleries and craft shops there is so much to do and see. Discover the bright and shining southwest tip of Cornwall, with ease. The ancient town of St Ives is nestled amongst rich, magnificent coastal scenery; it surrounds you with the clearest air, the cleanest beaches and scented, sub-tropical gardens.

Beaches offering fine golden sands, crystal clear waters, and a fantastic climate, St Ives really does have it all. Stroll along quaint granite cobbled streets admiring the cute fishermen cottages and soak in the atmosphere of the local hostelries or just sit and watch the world go by while enjoying a glass of wine on one of the many terraces. With so many beaches to choose from you would never tire of finding something new. If you are very lucky you may see a seal in the harbour. Dolphins, porpoises and basking sharks can also be seen in the Bay.

West Cornwall area can boast some of the cleanest bathing waters in Western Europe. There are award-winning beaches at Porthminster and Porthmeor, st ives and at Sennen. Each beach has its own charm and appeal; from busy family beaches to popular watersport's venues Enjoy wide-open flat sands and tucked away hidden suntraps. It's all here waiting for you.

St Ives is a sandy bottomed harbour which is still a working port where fishermen land their daily fresh catches of locally caught seafood. It's also very sheltered, a perfect sun-trap in the heart of town.

Whilst St Ives is rightly considered to be the jewel in the crown of West Cornwall, Carbis Bay, just over a mile around the headland, is a resort in its own right - it is a treasure waiting to be discovered. Bordered to the west by Porthminster Point and to the east by Hawke's Point, Carbis Bay Beach is one of the finest in Cornwall, the usually calm sea conditions and sheltered aspect ensure very safe bathing - perfect for families and water-skiing.

Carbis Bay is hard to beat as a base for touring Cornwall. Take the scenic branch railway line into St Ives within minutes; With St Michael's Mount and Penzance just 8 miles away. You can be at The Eden Project at St Austell in less than an hour. Take the coastal path to St Ives, or take the other direction towards PorthKidney Sands and Hayle Towans, with its spectacular views of Godrevy Lighthouse. Don't forget your camera.

"Lovely break in cosy and comfortable holiday bungalow"

We had a lovely time in Cornwall. "Puffin" is a lovely, homely and comfortable holiday bungalow. It is well equipped and really nicely furnished. It is situated in woodlands surrounded by lovely walks and the staff at the holiday centre are really helpful and friendly, so is the owner who gave us lots of helpful tips to make our stay really enjoyable. We enjoyed seeing the local mines, Eden Project, St Ives (went on the Park on Ride, which is really well worth doing), St Michaels Mount, Polperro, Tintage Castle etc.

Thank you for your lovely review, it is always reassuring to read that our guests have enjoyed their stay with us. Puffin is our little baby and we love spending time there. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. regards Dee
