Holiday at Sunny St Helens
About the home
Families will love St Helens - with freedom for kids and teens to play & meet new friends, within the safety of a gated resort. This development backs onto the beautiful, secluded, sandy beach at St Helens Bay. Great facilities on-site include a playground, tennis courts, basketball, football pitch and a bar/restaurant, with a kids menu, where families are more than welcome. Summer sport camps also operate during holiday periods.
The house has an open-plan living area and kitchen; double sliding doors open out onto the private patio / garden with outdoor seating area and parasol, perfect for al fresco dining or BBQ, with a view onto plenty of shared green space for kids to play.
Golfers will love the choice of playing at St Helens Bay Golf club, an 18-hole course on site, designed by Philip Walton. Alternatively there's a driving range and 9-hole pay & play course, Tuskar Golf Club, beside St Helens, or just a short "drive" away, you can play the famous links course at Rosslare Strand. Discounts on green fees are available by arrangement to guests staying at St Helens Village.
While Wexford is Ireland's Sunny South East, the location at St Helens & Rosslare has a microclimate of its own and typically gets more sunshine than other locations only a few miles away. May & June have been especially good in recent years.

The South East Ireland / County Wexford region

Ireland's Sunny South East - so called because it has Ireland's highest levels of sunshine - is a favourite destination for families with its wide sandy beaches, safe for swimming and all kinds of fishing and watersports.
St Helens is within easy reach of historic Wexford Town, founded in the 8th century by the Vikings - with its famously narrow streets which you can shake hands across, and which is the birthplace of the founder of the US Navy, Commodore John Barry.
Wexford is renowned for its annual Opera Festival, held in late October (21/10/10-05/11/2010) and the newest addition to the town's skyline is Wexford Opera House, opened in 2008, which is open to tours most weekends throughout the year and has a superb view over Wexford harbour from its Sky View Cafe. As well has hosting rare operas, the Festival Fringe events include recitals, art exhibitions, craft fairs and lots of activities for all the family in and around the town.
The St Helens, County Wexford / Rosslare area
During school holidays, St Helens Village runs activity camps for children - book early to avoid disappointment. St Helens clubhouse & bar/restaurant offers typical golfing fare til evening time most days throughout the year - free wi-fi is also usually available at the clubhouse (at their discretion) - excellent 3G reception in the area if you're using a smartphones or mobile broadband.
Dine at the famous Lobster Pot seafood restaurant near Carne Beach, about 20 minutes drive away - their chowder is second to none - however due to limited space, children are only allowed up to 5pm.
Other local places to eat include the Kilrane Inn (2km), Fusion restaurant at FerryPort House in Rosslare Harbour (3km), and Danby Lodge (6km).
Rosslare Strand (10km) is one of Ireland's most popular holiday spots and as well as walking the long sandy beach, you can dine or have a drink at the famous Kellys Hotel, or visit the watersports centre right on the seafront.
Visit the Irish National Heritage Park (17km) where ancient dwellings from Stone Age to early Christian monasteries and have been recreated.
Bowling, amusements and an indoor jungle gym are located at LeisureMax at Sinnotstown Lane (19 km) near Wexford town - also located near here is a new cinema multiplex - Omniplex Wexford with ample parking and McDonalds nearby! Family run Liosin Stables are 3km away and run pony camps during school holidays and can provide beach walks & treks.
A heated indoor swimming pool is available at Wexford Swimming Pool, in Wexford just beside the main bridge - timetables available on their website.
Several taxi and minibus companies operate locally, with regulated prices, if you would like to be able to visit Wexford Opera Festival, or other restaurants & hotels farther afield, without having to worry about driving home.
The nearest convenience store/petrol station is only a 5 minute drive away in Kilrane Village, and stocks light groceries, deli, newsagent etc. The golf clubhouse has a kiosk during July/August which sells milk, bread & newspapers. There is also a large, clean and well stocked SuperValu supermarket in Rosslare Harbour for more substantial shopping, adjacent to a pharmacy, post office, cafe, hair salon and ladies boutique.

Guestbook for Holiday at Sunny St Helens
"Fantastic place for adults and kids to get away from it all - safe, quiet but with plenty of outdoor space for families to enjoy - the house is great and has everything we need - we loved our three week stay there and we'll be back again" - David, Dublin - July/August 2010
"I've stayed here on a couple of occasions with my young son. We had a great time, the house had everything we needed and more. St Helens itself is great and safe for children" - Stephen - Dublin, Ireland (2008, 2009, 2010)
"We loved our vacation at this beautiful bright, clean & fully equipped cottage on St. Helen's Golf Course. This cottage is suitable for couples or families. The location on this beautiful golf course is a couple of minutes from a lovely sandy beach. We were there a little too early to try swimming although I saw some kids splashing around. The location was ideal for us as we could easily take a day trip to some historic sites such as Wexford Town, Waterford, New Ross, the Hook Peninsula and Dunbrody Abbey. The owners were the best hosts and are welcome to stay with us any time in Canada" Gary & Alice, Nova Scotia, Canada - May 2009
"We stayed here in April 2009, the accommodation is lovely and fulfilled all our needs. The children loved the area and were completely safe! Great communication from the owners and an ideal base for discovering Southern Ireland. We plan to come back very soon and we will be recommending to our friends and family" Donna & Nick, Wales (2009)
"My wife and I stayed at this house in St Helen's bay for our first time for a weekend in 2008. Easy access from Rosslare Ferry. A great base for visiting Wexford town - the sun shines almost every morning there, even when it might be raining everywhere else! We were met on site with the keys and had absolutely no problems." - John - UK
