About the home

The Alpenrose is ideally situated just a few minutes walk from the local town with its restaurants, bars, boulangeries and shops. The property benefits from a swimming pool boasting stunning views across the valley and facing the Aravis mountain range.

It makes an ideal base for skiing with the lower cable car a 2 minute drive away or a couple of minutes walk to the nearest free ski bus stop to take you to the 500 km of pistes.

In the summer the area is a walkers paradise, either explore the local area around Mont Joly, travel further afield to Chamonix or explore the awesome glaciers of Bionnassay or the Mer De Glace.

The bedroom has 2 bunk beds sleeping a total of 4 people. The lounge area has a double and a single sofa bed.

The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, washbasin and mirror. The apartment has a separate toilet.
Kitchen facilities include a cooker with oven, grill and 4 hobs, fridge, microwave oven, and coffee maker.

There is all the cutlery and crockery required for 6 guests.There is a large table and 2 benches for seating in the dining area. The lounge area has 2 sofas and opens up to an outside terrace with views across Saint Gervais. There is a coloured television, CD player and a DVD player.

There is a ski-locker which will fit up to 6 pairs of skis. Duvets, bed linen and towels provided. Cleaning is included in the price.

Further details outdoors:
There is a private heated swimming pool which is open from mid June until mid September. The swimming pool is exclusively for the use of the Alpenrose apartments' guests.

There is a private terrace with an outside table and chairs exclusively for your use.

A few meters from the front entrance is the private parking space.

Conditions

Bookings are made by contacting the owner. A 20% deposit by cheque will be requested to guarantee booking. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to departure, a reminder will be sent by email.

Changeover day is Saturday. Apartment is available at 4pm and must be vacated by 11am on the Saturday of departure.
Start/end days may be flexible.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

Saint Gervais is situated at 850m, standing in the shadow of Mont Blanc with its snow capped peaks all year round. The town is typically French with excellent restaurants and friendly bars. The local boulangeries and shops provide wonderful food for you to savour.

The area boasts a vast ski area. The evasion ski pass offers 500km of slopes. In the summer there are an array of activities from the extreme thrill seeker to the more relaxed rambler.

It provides a central base for visiting the famous town of Chamonix and the lakeside town of Annecy as well as crossing the border into Italy.

The St Gervais Les Bains area

The area provides arguably some of the best walks anywhere in the world. Walks range from low level strolls to ascents of Mont-Blanc. The summit of Mont Joly is the area's local peak and stands at 2525 metres. The Tramway du Mont Blanc, a rack and pinion railway takes you to the Nid d'Aigle. From here you can follow the Bionassay glacier back down to the valley or walk up to the Tête Rousse refuge which lies at over 3000 metres.

For a more casual walk, take a trip to Chamonix, from here take the cable car to the Aiguille du Midi at 3842 metres and enjoy the views over the Chamonix Valley. On the descent get off at the mid station and follow the Grand Balcon Nord down to the ice caves of the Mer de Glace. From here you can walk or take the Montenvers railway back into Chamonix and enjoy a beer at one of its many lively bars.

If it is mountain biking you enjoy, the area provides a fantastic opportunity to ride the Diamant Vert (Green Diamond circuit). The circuit offers 90km of marked trails with 5380 metres of downhill. A lift pass (July and August) will give you access to 11 lifts to take you up hill. The circuit will take you through the villages of Megeve, Saint Nicolas de Véroce, Demi-Quartier, Combloux, La Giettaz, Flumet, Praz sur Arly, Notre-Dame de Bellecombe and Les Contamines Montjoie and of course Saint Gervais.

White water rafting/canyoning, in nearby Chamonix. Experience the thrill of white water rafting, you can also experience the thrill of canyoning near Megeve, Annecy or across the border in Italy. Paragliding - There are many companies in the area that allow anyone to experience the thrill of paragliding. After a few steps you and your instructor will be soaring through the skies above the Alps, experiencing the amazing scenery.
