About the home

Luxury spacious elegant Victorian ground floor ski apartment (118sq metres) oak parquet floor throughout, long wide entrance hall; huge glass fronted south facing veranda overlooking Mt Joly/St Gervais ski area and Aravis mountains. Two balconies facing S and SW, all with stunning views of the Aravis range or the Mt Blanc massif.

There are two large bedrooms; one with three single beds and the other with one double and one single bed. There is a living room with double sofabed


The apartment overlooks the garden and is in a quiet part of St Gervais yet only two minutes walk from restaurants, cafes, shops etc. The mountain train station is also 2mins walk away (access to Les Houches ski area) and the skibus to the St Gervais/Megeve skilifts (7min) stops outside

The bathroom has two basins, bidet and powerful shower over the bath,

The large veranda will be double glazed at the end of the season and currently can be cold during the winter at night and first thing in the morning (it is separate from the rest of the living area).
However, being south facing, it heats up quickly on a sunny day and can be ideal for sunbathing/relaxing!

Further details outdoors:
There is a garden and in addition, on the large balcony it is possible to have a small barbecue.

There is parking across the road from the apartment and also lots of spaces at the tramway station (3mins). There is also a small road at the rear, visible from the apartment building where you can park.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

Haute Savoie is one of the most beautiful of the alpine regions and offers superb skiing in the Mt Blanc massif ( the 'normal route' up Mt Blanc starts in St Gervais). The area is superb for both winter and summer sports. In nearby Domancy/Passy (10mins) are lakes with supervised swimming and sandy 'beach'. Similarly in Les Contamines (10mins) is a swimming lake, aerial tree park, golf range, crazy golf and climbing.

There are many places to visit: Chamonix with the cable car to the Aiguille du midi at 3842m and descent of the Vallee Blanche and the famous mountain train to the Mer de Glace glacier; the beautiful medieval lake town of Annecy; Megeve with its upmarket shops and sports/swimming complex; Courmayeur in Italy and Geneva with its grand lac, water jet, theatre, opera...

The St Gervais Les Bains area

St Gervais is an elegant spa town in the heart of the mountains which has retained much of its original character and has been popular since the 1920s. Although a resort, it is a town in its own right with shops, cinema, library, church, bars, boulangeries , good restaurants, ice rink, dentists, doctors, banks etc. There is the nearby spa/thermal baths offering health and beauty treatments/physio/massage. The Maison de Tourisme in the centre of town is only 2mins walk away and they are very helpful with any enquiries.

The cable car from from St Gervais links into the Megeve/St Gervais ski area with 500km or pistes and 125 lifts. A wealth of varied skiing from complete beginners, easy reds and some more testing blacks on the slopes of Mt Joly or Cote2000. The skipass covers Megeve, St Gervais, St Nicolas de Veroce, Combloux, Cordon, Les Contamines and La Giettaz

There are also marked snowshoe trails, cross country skiing in Les Contamines and tandem paragliding flights...Megeve is renowned as a wealthy, family friendly resort. Nearby is Les Contamines with excellent skiing and not too far away are Chamonix (Aiguille du Midi and the famous Vallée Blanche), Argentiere (Grands Montets) Flaine and Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz. Courmayeur is also a short drive away to experience some Italian sunshine via the Mt Blanc tunnel.

In Summer the area is great for walking, riding, mountain/road biking, sailing, waterskiing, fishing, canyoning, white water rafting, climbing (bolted and trad nearby in Le Fayet and Les Contamines), golf (courses in Chamonix and Megeve) and paragliding. St Gervais has its own tennis complex and open air swimming pool. Nearby, the lakes at Passy are lovely for swimming (supervised area with lifeguard), sunbathing on the 'beach' or enjoying a bbq (in situ bbqs provided) all with views of the summit of Mt Blanc itself!

Similarly, there is a swimming lake in Les Contamines, pedalo lake, crazy golf, driving range, aerial tree walkway etc. The St Gervais mountain train can take you up to the alpine meadows and on to the 'Eagle's Nest' from where alpinists start the climb up Mt Blanc. Similarly the telecabines operate in summer for mountain walks or mountain biking.
