About the home

Your hosts Andy & Shelley look forward to welcoming new visitors & sharing their knowledge to help make your Alpine holiday more enjoyable & memorable. Winter: A stress free skiing holiday perfect for families & friends. Take the complimentary shuttle bus from outside the chalet & be skiing the slopes of Saint-Gervais within 5 minutes. Enjoy a wonderful day in the mountains with over 445kms of 'pistes', 107 lifts & numerous charming little bars & restaurants, snow park & nearby ski school. For the non skier you can purchase the 'walkers' pass which gives you access via certain lifts to the mountain range. There are many walking & snow shoe trails all offering the wonderful breath taking scenery. Saint-Gervais offers free of charge some spectacular cross country ski tracks. Return home to the haeven of peace & quiet & ease those aching muscles in the sauna/hamman. Dinner at home may be a fondue or raclette or perhaps you would prefer to venture into town where there are many bars & restaurants. Saint-Gervais is just 8kms away. Driving on a snow scooter to a high altitude restaurant for dinner one evening & tobogganing home could be the highlight of your week!
Summer: Breath taking scenery, unpolluted fresh air, only the sound of birds, distant cow bells & water flowing in the ravine. This is 'Hiedi' country. You may even spot deer in the garden. A holiday guaranteed to recharge those batteries. A perfect retreat for all outdoor Summer persuits. There are hundreds of walking trails with beautiful wild mountain flowers. Don't forget your binoculars to spot chamois & ibex. For the budding ornothologist there golden eagles, vultures & many more. There is Horse riding, 2 golf courses & 4 beautiful lakes where you can picnic, BBQ, swim & sunbathe on a sandy beach! Annecy, Megève,Chamonix & Geneva are all interesting & worthwhile nearby towns to visit with plenty of shops, museums, bars & restaurants. Saint-Gervais is famous for its SPA with healing waters for skin disorders. The Thermal Baths are open to the public for relaxing thermal treatments. There is a lively colourful market on Thursdays where you can savour local produce & purchase gifts to take home. Return home to have drinks on your private terrasse where you can watch Mont Blanc turning pink & then red before the sun sets; the sign that tomorrow with be another beautiful day. Summer in the mountains has everything to offer except the sea!

A well appointed apartment of 60m2. Orentation South East at 1300 metres in altitude.
Seperate ground level entrance wtih a large entrance hall that is perfect for ski & boot storage.
The lovely apartment has three bedrooms which sleeps 6. A double, a twin & a small bunk bedded room. All rooms have wardrobes, bedside tables & reading lights.
The lounge/dining room is light & comfortable.
The functional fully fitted kitchen includes all modern appliances & place settings for 12 people.
The bathroom has a cast iron bath, overhead shower with glass splash guard, a large vanity unit & heated towel rail.
There is full underfloor central heating & double glazing throughout the chalet. Every window in the apartment offers the view of Mont Blanc.
There is a large communal laundry room.
Tourist Information, maps, games, a picnic basket, first aid kit & a sewing box are all available on display in the large entrance hall.

Further details outdoors:
The lounge/dining area has french windows that open out onto a private secluded terrasse where there is a garden table & 6 chairs for your alfresco dining. A large gas Barbeque is close to the terrasse & there are 3 sun loungers with padded cushions for relaxing, sunbathing & soaking up the view of the Mont Blanc Mountain range. There is also an outside light on the terrasse for when the sun goes down.
There is off road parking available for two cars to the side of the chalet close to the seperate apartment entrance .

Further details

Arrival time should be after 4pm & departure time at 10am.
Sheets & towels will be provided & the beds will be made.
One sauna session is included in the weekly Winter rate. If required further sauna sessions can be booked at an extra cost of 30€ per session.
Although smokers are welcome we would prefer you to smoke outside on your private terrace as the chalet is mainly constructed of wood & is fitted with a smoke alarm system.
Dogs may be accepted by prior arrangement with an extra charge of €30.

Conditions

A 25% Deposit of the rental fee is requested 6 weeks before your stay to confirm the reservation.
A refundable breakages deposit of 200€ is required on arrival & will be retturned on your departure. (Subject to satisfactory property inspection).
A French Tourist Tax of 1.50€ per person per day is payable on arrival. Children under 13 years of age are exempt.

Chamonix just 30 minutes away is the 'mecca' for mountain climbing. You can take the highest cable car in Europe to the Aiguille du Midi or the Train de Montevers which climbs up to the edge of the Vallée Blanche Glacier where you can view skiers & ice climbers on the Glacier. Chamonix also has an interesting Alpine Museum.
In just one hour you can visit beautiful Lake Annecy known as the 'Little Venice' for a memorable boat tour around the lake stopping off at quaint little villages along the way.
Geneva is a beautiful city with fine shops, lakeside restaurants, theatres & museums.

The St Gervais Les Bains area

Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is a delightful Alpine Village nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc. Enjoy a relaxing spa treatment at the Thermal Baths where the waters are famous for their healing properties. Over 480 Kms of ski slopes are available in Winter. Summers are warm & balmy & the nearby lakes are ideal for bathing & relaxing.
There is a lively colourful market on Thursdays where you can savour local produce & purchase gifts to take home
During the Summer months Saint-Gervais hosts regular craft fayres, outside antique markets, a vintage car rally & international ice skating competitions. People come from afar to watch the wonderful firework display on July 14th.

“Amazing location and views” We stayed here for Christmas and had a wonderful holiday. The apartment is on the ground floor of the chalet and is very private from the owners accomodation. The location is amazing with th views of Mont Blanc from every window. The evening light catches the mountain and gives it a pink glow! The location of the property is perfect for skiing, there is a bus but we used our car to go the 5 mins to the mid point cable car station at Le Bettex. Fantastic skiing for all abilities and friendly staff working on the lifts. Very pretty tree lined runs and lots of variety. The apartment had a very well equipped kitchen and we had no problem preparing a full Christmas roast dinner. St Gervais is a very pretty town. A car is essential for this property. Owners were on hand to sort out any problems and were very helpful.

“Well-equipped, comfortable, great location and an incredible view” This was our 3rd winter visit to Les Hiboux and we hope to go back soon, perhaps in the summer. We like the location - convenient for the bus or the short drive to the lifts. Kitchen has everything you could need - including a bottle of local wine chilling in the fridge when you arrive! An impeccably clean and well-presented apartment. The hosts are charming and attentive.

“5 Star accomodation at a very reasonable price” We had a lovely week at Apartment Les Hiboux. It was extremely comfortable, very well kitted out and beautifully furnished. It also had one of the most magnificant views of Mont Blanc ever - from every room as well as the garden. I would highly recommend this place to anyone - really suitable for a family, a couple, a group of friends, or even someone on their own.

“Beautiful location,wonderful accommodation.” The chalet is situated in a stunning location within easy reach of beautiful mountain walks. Our hosts Shelley and Andy were extremely welcoming and very helpful in providing information on the local area and must see places. The closeness of lakes for swimming and tourist spots such as Chamonix and Annecy was a real bonus. Our trip on the Mnt Blanc railway from St Gervais les Bain was also a highlight. The apartment was extremely comfortable with everything you needed and more. The wifi was also handy with three teenage daughters! The views from the apartment were spectacular especially early evening watching the sun set. We look forward to our next visit.

“A stunning chalet for all seasons” Les Hiboux far exceeded our expectations and how often can one say that about a holiday rental? The apartment comprises most of the ground floor of a traditional alpine chalet & the views from the main rooms and garden terrace across to the Mont Blanc massif are simply stupendous. The chalet was comfortable, well furnished and has a kitchen equipped with plenty of utensils, equipment and gadgets for guests who like cooking and really want to make the most of the local produce. St Gervais les Bains has a large weekly outdoor market in the town square and there are lots of other shopping or dining out within easy reach. Les Hiboux is located just below the ski station of Le Bettex and complimentary shuttle buses stop near the chalet to ferry people up to the year round bubble lift. From the top station there is access (either via another bubble, footpath or ski) down to the stylish resort of Megeve. Shelley and Andy were perfect hosts, easily contactable and helpful with local information or quickly resolving any problems or queries.

“Amazing location, stunning views and superb accomodation” Thankyou Shelley and Andy for making us feel so welcome. Being able to relax in comfort with the stunning views of Mont Blanc made it a trip never to forget. We can't wait to come back. The chalet is situated in possibly one of the most beautiful locations you can think of and is equipped with just about everything you would need to make a great stay.

“Appartement de qualité dans chalet savoyard” Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cet appartement spacieux et aux prestations de qualité. Shelley est une hôte très sympathique et attentionnée. L'appartement est joliment décoré et la vue directe sur le Mont Blanc est superbe. Les pistes de ski sont à 5 minutes grâce à la navette qui s'arrête près du chalet. La séance de sauna offerte est un vrai plaisir pour se relaxer après une bonne journée de ski.

“a verry nice and lovely appartment” Hello Shelly und Andy, wir durften im Sommer diesen Jahres eure Gäste sein und haben sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist eine fantastisch gelegene und eingerichtete Ferienwohnung mit gehobenem Standard. Allles was man benötigt ist vorhanden. Sogar einen Saunabenutzung ist möglich. Das Willkommen bei Euch war sehr, sehr herzlich. Der freie Blick auf den Mont Blanc von allem Zimmern ist fantastisch und hat uns jeden Tag aufs neue begeistert. Die gegend ist im Sommer sehr ruhig, wer es mag (wie wir) fühlt sich sehr wohl. Wir, eine kleine Familie (2 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder) können dieses schöne Haus sehr empfehlen.
