Chalet Wheatley is a privately let, self-catering chalet situated in St Gervais France.

The is set in the idyllic mountain town of St Gervais near Chamonix, only 40 minutes drive from Geneva.

There are 3 bedrooms, comprising 1 double bed and 2 rooms with 2 * single beds. A travel cot is available if required.

The chalet is ideally situated for skiing holidays or to sample the various activities the area has to offer such as climbing, paragliding, mountain biking and the Spa Baths - Les Thermes Saint-Gervais-Les-Bains - renowned for their relaxing and therapeutic properties.

The chalet is right next to the Evasion ski domain (Bettex ski lift is 10 mins walk, 1 min walk to bus stop, or 2 mins drive to free parking area), which consists of over 500km of mainly tree-lined runs serviced by 125 ski lifts. Ski domain includes areas of St Gervais, Les Contamimes, Les Houches and Megeve.

Perfect for skiing in winter and family holidays in spring, summer and autumn. Wonderful resort for exploring the beauty of the French Alps.

Skiing: There is an amazing 500kms of piste throughout the Evasion ski domain which includes St Gervais, Les Contamimes and Megeve. The lift system is highly efficient. Runs to suit all abilities, from wide open greens and blues to steep narrow blacks. There are 3 half pipes and 2 'fun-parks' as well as flood-lit skiing facilities. Off-piste skiing is abundant and possibilities for ski-touring are endless!

Paragliding/Hang-gliding: The ultimate challenge in paragliding and hang-gliding flight has to be the mountains where perhaps the best thermal-ling and cross country flying is found and there is no place like the 'Chamonix Valley' and its surrounding area for superb year-round flying. The sheer altitudes, the stunning views and the tranquillity of what must be Europe's most extensive alpine area, make it a pleasure to visit.

Take-off sites nearby are Le Brevent (15km), Plan Praz (15km), Les Grands Montets (15km), Plan L'Aiguille (15km), Aigille du Midi (15km), Plaine Joux (5km) and many others. There is even a landing site 0.5km from the chalet.

Cycling: The new Diamant Verte circuits make this area a brilliant place for mountain biker beginners, novices, or just plain lazy bikers who want the thrills without all the hard work. The Diamant Verte website is currently only in French, however it gives you a map of the circuits and photos. The lift system only runs in the summer month, however there are numerous cycle tracks available for mountain biking all year round for those prepared to put the effort into cycling up hill as well.

Nearby Megeve/Combloux (easily accessible by 1 cable car up and a downhill) give 100s km downhill rides all serviced by cable cars to take the strain.

In July each year are the world famous mountain bike races (20/50/100/140km)

For road cyclists there are some excellent training rides within the valley with climbs and descents of varying severity. It's also easy to nip down to the open expanse of the Arve valley floor to put in some longer mileages. And from St Gervais it's quite possible to take in classic Tour de France routes such as the Col de Aravis and Col de Colombiere.

"Perfect family chalet"

Spacious property in perfect location for telecabine and town. Free bus at the end of the road to the telecabine but we either walked (10 mins) or took the car (plenty of parking even in half term holiday). Easy walking distance to town for local supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and bars. Chalet also has its own driveway with plenty of parking. Wonderful garden perfect for children to play in and build snowmen. UK FreeSat and Wifi were really useful, making our friends jealous when uploading our holiday photos. Listing description very accurate. Lovely and warm and clean. This was our 4th visit to Saint Gervais and this was the best Chalet we have stayed in.

"Excellent location and facilities."

I stayed here in August 2010, however the drop down menu wouldn't allow me to choose 2010, hence it says August 2012!
We spent 2 weeks at this lovely chalet and in my opinion, it is ideally located for anyone seeking an Alpine holiday. Chamonix and all it's many attractions are within an easy drive and the chalet is just a short stroll away from the shops and restaurants of St Gervais itself, which was a very friendly and welcoming town. The chalet is very well equipped, comfortable and clean and the owner provides a helpful file of information and local maps in the chalet, regarding activites/sights of interest in the area. The owner was also extremely helpful and prompt in answering queries before we travelled. A lasting memory of the chalet will be sitting on the patio in the evenings looking at the Alpenglow on the mountains - what a fantastic sight.
Following our lovely summer holiday in the chalet, we have just re-booked for a winter holiday later this year. Once again, the owner has been extremely helpful in answering my queries.

"Tranquil place with fantastic views"

Spent a wonderful week in St Gervais in Summer. The chalet was comfortable and roomy enough for all us with a nice garden where we spent several evenings contemplating Mont Blanc, quite spectacular. We found a variety of activities for all of us, from horse riding to tennis, walking and swimming, even an evening out watching an ice-hockey match. It is an easy walk from the chalet into town where there is a weekly market. There is a pottery nearby with some beautiful (although quite pricey) items, well worth splashing out on. Highly recommended, planning another stay next Summer.

"Comfortable and spacious with a great view of the mountains."

Stayed here with a buddy and liked it a lot. It's quite spacious and clean, pretty much everything you need is there. Big sofas, Freesat TV, Broadband. Good sized kitchen area, comfortable beds, and the underfloor heating in the main living area is very handy for drying out gloves and boots overnight. It's also not far from the stop for the free shuttle bus to the gondola. I had to take a day off from snowboarding and the chalet was still a very nice place to be. Sun was shining, chilled out on the deck looking out over the mountains - bliss! I'd definitely go again.

"Highly recommend this chalet/location for a great holiday."
