In Normandy, ten minutes from the sandy beaches of the west region of the Cotentin, a 17th century farmhouse restored by our efforts.

A one bedroom house which is bright and very peaceful.

There are 3 floors :

A terrace, a fully equipped kitchen ( micro-wave, gas cooker/oven, dishwasher/dryer)

and a dining room with a sitting area on the ground floor.

A bright living room on the first floor.

A bedroom with a double bed and an open plan en-suite bathroom and a sitting area on the top floor.

(A third guest can sleep exceptionally on the sofa bed on the ground floor although the gîte is really designed for a couple).

There is a connecting door to our B&B room, so if needed both can be rented together to accommodate 4 guests.

Mickey Brooke-Edwards, your hostess, is a Leith's trained chef and offers you a table d'hôtes serving fresh local produce.

By reservation only, 24-hour notice, please.

The Basse-Normandie region

I call it the equivalent of north west Scotland for France. Remote, wild vast beaches and dunes, no motorways.

They filmed a lot of "Tess", Polanski's film in the north Cotentin, and I am not surprised. There is magical light here!

One must not be in a hurry, though...

Great seafood, great lamb, great cheeses. Cider country, calvados country but there is always a good bottle of wine at hand too.

Surrounded by sea, the Cotentin benefits of the biggest tides in Europe for oyster farming and for unusual beach landscapes.

We are between the landing beaches to the East and the Mont St Michel to the South.

In the countryside we benefit from a rural environment and close-by sandy beaches...
