Craigdarroch Cottage is a quaint newly refurbished coachman's cottage which dates back some 100 years. It is located in a peaceful spot in the centre of St Fillans in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. St Fillans is a pretty village situated on the banks of Loch Earn.

The cottage is ideally located to explore the National Park and the Southern Highlands. There is plenty to do including walking, cycling, golfing, fishing and water-sports. You can access several walks directly from the cottage from a gentle stroll along an old railway or be more adventurous in the surrounding mountains; both providing stunning views of Loch Earn. Wildlife is in an abundance in the surrounding area including red deer, ospreys on the loch and red squirrels. Each season brings its own stunning scenery and provides fantastic photography opportunities.

The cosy cottage benefits from a loch view which you can enjoy while relaxing with your feet up in front of the wood burning stove after a day in the Scottish countryside. The living area is open plan with a kitchen, cooker island with breakfast bar, dining table and comfortable sofas surrounding the log burner. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering.

Bed linen and towels are provided and heating is included in the rental price. A starter fire pack will be provided. Further wood and peat can be bought locally either in the Village Store or nearby Comrie.

St Fillans Village Store is located a few minutes walk from the cottage where you can buy groceries and newspapers. It also has a cafe providing snacks, coffee, ice cream and cakes. You can purchase fishing permits here for Loch Earn.

There are two hotels in the village which offer evening meals if you feel like dining out (please note they have seasonal opening dates and times). The third one has just been purchased (Aug 2013) by Arran Breweries. It is reported that it will be refurbished and facilities will include a micro brewery, bar and restaurant. The bar is now open but again has seasonal opening times.

St Fillans has its own 9 hole golf course, each hole is challenging and the scenery is breathtaking. There are many golf courses to choose from the vicinity including the prestigious Gleneagles.

Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Stirling can all be reached by car within 1 hour 15 mins.

Well behaved dogs are welcome in the cottage (extra charge applicable).

Short breaks may be possible in low season or last minute. Please contact owner for availability.

"What a great place to stay"

Well laid out accommodation situated in some of the best scenic areas of Scotland. Ideally suited for hillwalking and Munro bagging. Hills on your doorstep. Local microbrewery about to open in the next few months and a local hostelry which made us very welcome. What more could you ask for?

"Amazing!"

Craigdarroch cottage is amazing! It is in the most beautiful location with views of the stunning Loch Earn from the cottage itself. The owner provided great little touches for when we arrived - bottle of bubbly and treats for the dogs. The cottage is decorated beautifully and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and was very clean. The bed was so comfortable and it was so quiet we could have slept all day. The cottage has a lovely wood burning stove but we didn't get to use it as the weather was so nice. The owner had provided directions for different walks in the area. We tried most of them and all had wonderful views. And of course the dogs loved them. We loved nearby Crieff and the Dalchonzie fruit farm. Well worth a visit. The owner was having decking built in the wooded area outside the cottage while we were there which will be lovely to sit on and watch the sun set when it is completed. There are so many amazing things to say about this cottage. The only picky thing was that the sofas were not very comfortable and were very springy. Despite this we loved our time at Craigdarroch cottage. We loved it so much we have booked again for New Year. Can't wait.

"Fabulous, cozy cottage in wonderful Perthshire"

We enjoyed a wonderful break at Craigdarroch cottage. Cottage is beautifully laid out and had everything we needed. Owner has done an amazing job in refurbishing the cottage. We played golf at Comrie and Killin, and enjoyed walks straight from the cottage door. Will definitely be back!

"Beautiful refurbished cottage with Loch views, pooch friendly"

Fantastic long weekend at this special cottage. Situated inside the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park it's an ideal base to explore the amazing Perthshire countryside. As soon as we walked through the door the stress of the working week evaporated. The cottage has been beautifully refurbished to a high standard and is well equipped for that perfect stay including the all important cork screw and wine cooler. Poppy the dog had a fantastic time too with walks straight from the front door, dog bed and some treats being an extra special touch. Would definitely recommend a stay.

"What a wonderful cottage"

We had a wonderful stay at Craigdarroch Cottage and can't thank Ailsa enough for opening up her home for others to appreciate. You can tell Ailsa's heart and soul went in to restoring the cottage. We stayed for 3 nights with our dogs and wished we could have stayed longer. We usually stay in a self catering cabin and normally have to take everything but the kitchen sink with us so we were surprised at how well equipped the cottage was. The cottage is open plan with 2 couches, flat screen tv, dvd player (there are even some dvds) and even enough room for a dinning table. The bedroom has a huge bed (super kingsize I think) which was incredibly comfortable, didn't want to get out of bed in the morning!! We took the dogs for walks along the suggested routes which they loved. We especially loved the roaring fire at the end of the day. I can't recommend this cottage highly enough and we look forward to our next visit.

"The most perfect week"

We had an absolutely fantastic week at Craigdarroch Cottage; it is the perfect place to relax and soak up the tranquility of the Highlands. The Cottage was lovely and clean and had everything we and our dog needed. We had a great time exploring walking routes during the day and then resting our weary legs in front of the cosy wood burning stove at night. We can't wait to go back!

"A great escape to the country"

Craigdarroch cottage is the perfect location for a holiday to get away from it all. With views of loch earn, and a roaring log burning fire, it was the perfect way to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lots of great walks to explore from the doorstep.

"Perfect"

My girlfriend and I enjoyed 3 lovely nights at Craigdarroch Cottage. It had everything we hoped for and we thoroughly loved every moment of our time there. The kitchen facilities were excellent and we enjoyed cooking our own meals. The log fire was also excellent - a perfect way to spend a cold winter's night. Bedroom, bathroom and living area have also been built to a very high standard.

The cottage is ideally located for exploring the lovely Perthshire countryside; we enjoyed several walks and even managed 9 holes of golf at the local course.

The only down part of the stay was that we had to leave. Looking forward to coming back sometime soon.
