The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Pembrokeshire region
The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is Britain's only truly coastal National Park. It's a spectacular landscape of rugged cliffs, golden sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and wild inland hills. North Pembrokeshire is the most tranquil and least discovered with plenty of secret coves and beaches to be explored. No other county in Britain has more Blue Flag beaches and with over 50 to choose from there's going to be one that's perfect for you whether you want surfng, kayaking or coasteering or just somewhere peaceful to relax, sunbathe and build sandcastles. Pembrokeshire has a long and interesting history and offers plenty of places to visit from Celtic and Iron Age forts to Norman and Medieval castles.
St David's area
Beaches closest to Cilcain (less than 5 miles) include Abermawr, a remote rural beach, Traeth Llyfn, secluded and sandy, and Abereiddy, popular with surfers. Whitesands at St Davids - also a short drive away - offers something for everyone.
Cilcain is half way between St Davids, with its magnificent medieval cathedral, art galleries, gift shops and restaurants, and Fishguard with fortnightly farmer's market, luxury spa and a daily ferry to Ireland. Besides walking the beautiful stretch of coast path and enjoying the secluded beaches and many water sports on offer, there are a wide variety of other activities to try including horse riding, climbing, mountain biking and quad biking. The recently opened sub tropical water park, the Blue Lagoon, guarantees thrilling aqua adventures even on rainy days.
