The Somerset region

The West Country... With all our history, myths and legends, you'll never tire of exploring South West England. From the magnificent city of Bath to the mining heritage of Cornwall and Devon that inspired the Mexican wave (honestly!). Maybe you want to go hunting for fossils along the Jurassic Coast, work out how they built Stonehenge or water divining at Avebury. Whatever the interest your perfect break is here in South West England. The region is traditionally famous for its production of cider, clotted cream and pasties, but now at least equally well known for the Glastonbury Festival and other attractions.

St Catherines Valley

Bath and the stunning countryside surrounding it is one of England's most beautiful places to visit.

Bath, England, is a unique city; its hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents have attracted visitors for centuries. Set in rolling Somerset countryside, just over 100 miles west of London, it is a beautiful and unforgettable place to visit.

Great tourist attractions are very close to this property, the magnificent Royal Cresent, The Roman Baths and Great Pulteney Street are a few among many.

St. Catherine exemplifies the English countryside at its finest whilst remaining in a magnificent position for access to Bath and all of its attractions. The pretty village of Marshfield is just over a mile away and the M4 is a mere 5 mile drive from the property giving easy access to both Bristol and London. St. Catherine is within the Valley of Outstanding Natural Beauty which makes for a wonderful location for both cyclists and walkers.

"Absolutely breathtaking!"

To arrive from Boston, USA and drive across to Old Nailey Farmhouse is indescribable. Going over cattle grids and driving through fields, we literally gasped when we arrived. The pictures do NOT do this house credit. The rooms are enormous, the kitchen was very well stocked. We had Sainsburys deliver to us twice, which was so helpful. The gardens/grounds are the most beautiful and well kept we have ever seen. The most stunning views. We had amazing weather (which helped of course) to explore the grounds, going for lovely walks. The towels were fluffy, the house was very clean and our Welcome Basket was very thoughtful. The only downsides were no fans (but it isn't usually that hot) and no tumble dryer, but that is easily forgotten when you look out ANY window. None of us wanted to go home, we had a nice dinner at the local pub the night before. Highly recommend them! Can not wait to return.

"Beautiful house, garden and location!"

Stayed for a long weekend with a large group of friends. The house is beautiful, comfortable, clean and well equipped but also homely. We were lucky enough to have sunny days - perfect for enjoying the garden with fabulous views and walking in the surrounding area. The evenings were chilly so we made the most of the huge open fireplace and toasty underfloor heating! The rooms are huge - perfect for a large party and we were all able to sit around the dining table, kitchen breakfast table and in the conservatory - a different venue for every meal! Highly recommended.
