Situated in St Benoist-sur-Mer on the edge of the Marais Poitevin, La Fermette sleeps up to 6 people in two spacious bedrooms, 1 double and 1 quad. The living room has a feature fireplace with modern furnishings and UK TV channels. The large open plan dining room and kitchen is fully-equipped with a large fridge-freezer and cooker. There is also a full-size dishwasher so that you're not wasting your precious holiday-time on the mundane task of washing-up!
St Benoist-sur-Mer has a friendly bar/restaurant and local shop called 'Le Lapin Qui Fume'. It is just a short stroll from La Fermette.
The beautiful beaches of La Tranche-sur-Mer and Les Conches are 12km away, a short car journey or pleasant cycle ride.

The extensive half-acre private grounds are fully enclosed and for the sole use of guests at La Fermette. There is ample parking both outside and under cover. Outside there is a patio table with chairs and parasol as well as sun loungers and a barbecue.

Conditions
If more than 12 weeks before your stay, a deposit of 50% is requested at the time of booking. Full payment is required 12 weeks before your stay. A security deposit (fully refundable after your visit) of 150 euros per week is requested at the time of booking. Please see our website for full booking information.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
The Vendée has a micro-climate which means that the area enjoys up to 2600 hours of sunshine a year. This is almost as many as the south of France and almost twice as many as London! Well-established as a tourist area you will find activities to suit all of the family. From a castle in Talmont-St-Hilaire and a tower in Moricq to a zoo in Les Sables d'Olonne there really is something for everyone.
All towns have local produce markets, wonderful opportunities to try local specialities and soak up some of the friendly Vendéen atmosphere. The summer also sees the area hosting many music festivals and watersport competitions. Every four years the world famous Vendée globe race sets off from Les Sables d'Olonne and the Vendée is regularly featured in the itinerary for the Tour de France cycle race.
Situated in the southern reaches of the Loire valley, the Vendée has four main wine-producing areas : Brem-sur-Mer, Vix, Pissotte and Mareuil-sur-Lay. Visits and tastings can be arranged and most restaurants stock local wines for you to enjoy.
For history buffs l'Historial de la Vendée is the place to visit. (http://historial.vendee.fr/) Telling the long history of the area from pre-historic times to the present day there is also a simulated helicopter ride over the Vendée, exciting for visitors of all ages.
Slightly further afield are the leisure parks of Futuroscope (www.futuroscope.com) and Puy de Fou (www.puydufou.com) both 'must-sees' for the family. For bargain-hunters, Cholet has a designer outlet - Marques Avenue with many popular labels at reduced prices. (www.marquesavenue.com)
The St Benoist-sur-Mer area
St Benoist-sur-Mer is on the edge of the Marais Poitevin nature reserve. Within walking distance of La Fermette is a viewing area for the marshes and a canoe rental centre. The 11th century church with the famous smoking rabbit on the top is visible from La Fermette. In the village is a bar/restaurant/local shop called Le Lapin Qui Fume. Well-placed for the beaches at both La Tranche-sur-Mer and Les Conches (both under 15 minutes by car), La Fermette really does offer the perfect blend of coast and countryside.

We would recommend this property to anyone looking forward to a peaceful holiday in a rural setting but only a short drive away from a number of stunning beaches. The property is well equipped and as described on the web site. The owner was there to meet us on arrival and also on departure to hand over the keys.The directions given ensured we found the property easily. We found the owners very approachable and friendly and as they only live five minutes away, problems can be sorted out quickly. The furniture in the property is comfortable and more than adequate and the provision of a washing macine and dishwasher is useful.The beds are firm but comfortable. The property stays beautifully cool even on hot, sunny days. The large enclosed garden is a real bonus, particularly if you have dogs or children, with lots of shade. It is also well equipped with garden furniture. There are many lovely beaches close by - just a short drive away- many of which allow dogs on and many are patrolled by lifeguards. They offer all sorts of water sports. A short walk away from the property there is a nature reserve where you can watch the beavers etc play and even hire a canoe if you want to in high season. There are a few supermarkets close by and the local restaurant/bar sells bread . A large out of town shopping centre can be found in La Roche. There is a restaurant/bar in the village and many others in nearby La Tranche. We like the property so much that we have holidayed there for the last two years and hopefully plan to be back next year. . |
