Home description

Riverside was originally a kiln built in the 1800’s. Used for drying Chin Clay, it is now a Grade II-listed building and has been lovingly renovated to provide accommodation for up to 6 people. Much of the property’s original charm has been retained through features, such as exposed beams and part-wooden floors.

Riverside has its own private patio and shred use of a courtyard, from which you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining in the summer evenings. There are swings for the children and a small stream runs past the rear of the property. Although there is off-road parking for up to 3 cars, the local shops and pubs are less than a mile away on foot.

The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Or could it be the cliff-top theatre at Mynack, working harbours, the world famous Eden project or St Michaels Mount, cut off from the mainland by a causeway. Or even the endless activities on offer; the Camel Cycling and Walking Trail, stunning coastal paths or the National Surf Centre at Newquay’s Fistral beach. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.


St Austell / Roche area

It is situated about 6 miles from the tourist attractions, cafes, bars and restaurants to be found at St. Austell and about 8 miles from the rugged beauty of Bodmin. From Roche, you can take a small, winding road to the tiny chapel at Roche Rock or follow a road towards Demelza to find the famous Holy Well. This well dates back to the 14th Century and its waters are said to have curative properties. The chapel was built in 1409 and was last occupied by landowners during an outbreak of leprosy, centuries ago.

The village itself has three inns: the Victoria, the Poachers and the Rock Inn, all of which serve excellent food and local brews. Roche is also part of the Arthurian legends that make Cornwall so unique; Roche Rock is featured as part of the ‘Tristan and Isolde’ stories, concerning two young lovers who had to carry out their affair in secret, whilst being pursued by the King’s men.

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the 'Winter' period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.

Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the 'Low' and 'Mid' periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.

'Last Minute Breaks' (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the 'Low', 'Mid', 'HIGH', 'PEAK', 'XMAS' and 'NEW YEAR' periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
