About the home

Sticky's Place is ideally situated in the heart of Cornwall in the semi rural historic Cornish clay mining village of Nanpean and is AVAILABLE 365 DAYS A YEAR at very competitive rates.

The village is easily accessible from the A30 and would suit those who are seeking a rambling holiday break, or just a quiet weekend away to view and experience some lovely Cornish countryside and places to visit, which are within easy reach by short journeys by car or on foot for those who enjoy walking

The accommodation consists of UPVC double glazing throughout, and the entrance leads to a cosy open plan lounge area comprising of a double sofa bed (3ft 8 ins mattress), wall mounted flat screen freeviewTV with DVD player with over 60 TV channels, VHF radio with iPod docking station, electric wall mounted heating system and a log effect electric fire, the lounge is carpeted.

Leading off the lounge is an open plan kitchenette, which has a sink, conventional oven, kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge and a also a Halogen Work-Top Oven. There is ample cupboard space and all crockery, cutlery, kitchen linen and kitchen utensils are included. On arrival you will find a welcome pack to help you start off your stay. Leading off the lounge is a carpeted bedroom which comprises of a full size double bed with an orthopaedic mattress, wardrobe with drawer space, a chest of drawers and bedside table and lighting. There is a freeview TV with over 60 TV and 20 radio channels. Bedlinen and towels are included. There is an iron and ironing board in the cottage and access to a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Visitors also have 24 hour access to the conservatory in the main house, where there is an additional fridge and a freezer for their use.

There are some wonderful places to visit during your stay. Padstow, the home of famous chef Rick Stein is only 14 miles away, Watergate Bay has a fabulous stretch of beach and walks, as well as Jamie Oliver's famous Fifteen Cornwall restaurant overlooking Watergate Bay. Port Isaac, famous for its stunning location used for the television programme Doc Martin, is approximately 16 miles away. Charlestown near St Austell has another lovely bay and harbour which houses 3 tall ships and a maritime museum. These listed are only a few which are highly recommended by us to visit during your stay. Again, just ask.

Sticky's Place is suitable for children as the accommodation has a double bedroom and there is a travel cot available for use which will easily fit into the bedroom if required. The lounge sofa can provide another double bed if required for children. The garden will provide space for children to play as well as a tree house. In the summer there is a 12 foot (3.6m) diameter by 2feet 6 inches deep (0.75m) above ground splash pool in the garden for the use of guests but it is not heated (see photos).

The St Austell / Nanpean area

You can find just about all you need at the local village store which houses a post office as well. The village also has a small friendly garage which includes the sale of petrol/diesel. Nanpean has 2 churches and a small Chinese takeaway. All of these are within a short walking distance from Sticky's Place.

The cottage is 6 miles from the south west coast with Carlyon being the nearest beach. It is 14 miles from the north west coast with Newquay having the nearest beaches. The nearest railway station is at St. Austell 5 miles away and the nearest Airport is Newquay which is 14 miles away.

To get to the cottage from the north when leaving the M5 at the end take the left fork the A30 signposted Okehampton. Travel along the A30 for about 70 miles and leave at the Victoria interchange Exit signposted Roche and Victoria. Then take the first exit off the roundabout.

Drive for 0.5 miles and turn left after the petrol station signposted Victoria Business Centre. Drive for a further mile travelling through Roche and at the mini roundabout take the first exit and then immediately turn right onto Harmony Road.

Drive for about 3.5 miles travelling through the village of Whitemoor. The road becomes Currian Road Nanpean and the cottage is situated behind a detached granite house on the right named The Villa.

Those hiring the cottage will have exclusive use of the hot tub for two one hour sessions each day which is ideal for relaxing after a day out and about. It can be used at other times but may be shared with others. There is also a BBQ and a patio table for you to use if you want to to eat al fresco.

The proprietor and her husband both have employment requiring a CRB check and therefore are the the holders of current enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check certificates.

In light of this they offer, when convenient to them, a babysitting service at a reasonable cost of £5.00 per hour.
