The West Country / Cornwall region
The southern coast of cornwall is renowned for having mild winters,it`s very rare for mevagissey to have frost let alone snow in the winter,It is because of these mild conditions that the tropical plants in The Lost Gardens Of Heligan, which were planted 100`s of years ago are thriving and have grown so large and are well worth a visit along with the world famous Eden Project.
St Austell area
Mevagissey has a museum at the end of the harbour, visit here and learn about the history of the fisherman and how the village has changed over the years, also on the harbour the old lifeboat station is now a sea life museum .If you want to try a bit of fishing hire your own boat and lines and fish in our very safe bay,if you dont feel so brave go on a skippered boat and get shown the coast line from a few miles out at sea. The last week of June is Feast week, this is our carnival week, with entertainment on the harbour every evening.
How to get there
Either Fly to newquay airport, mevagissey is approx 45 mins drive. cheapflights from Ryan air are available from stanstead. Or a train to st Austell,Then bus or car. Approaching from A30 turn on to A391 to St Austell. At St.Austell turn right on to A390 follow signpost for truro for approx 2 miles until McDonalds roundabout turn left onto B3273 sign posted Mevagissey.Follow for approx. 6 miles until you reach village.follow one-way system until you reach The Ship Inn.Go forward with Ship Inn on right for 25metres.Turn right into Trgoney Hill.we are approx 20 mtres on right.
