There are many good, cheap airlines that travel to our part of the Dordogne.Bergerac : daily, twice on Saturdays during the summer months. With Flybee and Ryan Air..to many other parts of the uk. We are just 40 min from Bergerac and it is very straightforward getting to us, we provide a local map with easy directions, on booking.Bordeaux: Easy jet and British Airways. Just one hour flight from Gatwick and 1.00 hour drive to us, again I provide a map. started operating to the uk, and is about 1.5 hours drive We recommend that you hire a car from Hertz if you are flying Ryanair as its much cheaper. Both the airports are excellent and have many car hire companies. We advise in the summer you book your car with your flight company just in case you are disappointed. It is a very stress free place to get to and some people even commute!!!
Activities near St Astier
Tennis in town
Golf within 30 mins drive

Maison du Verger – what an amazing place to stay!
We had the most wonderful holiday in Maison du Verger, where do I begin?
The house was beautiful, the accommodation totally amazing. Everything we needed and more. Pattie and Graham were incredibly welcoming and generous hosts, there but never intrusive, keeping us supplied with the freshest eggs we have ever tasted and beautiful veg from Pattie's garden! Not forgetting the dogs Tilly and mischievous Merlin with his continuous gifts of the throwing variety, and Charlie (the cockerel) with his Girls strutting their stuff in the front garden, we couldn't ask for more!
The pool area was a hit with everyone, plenty of luxurious loungers for the sunnier days and the fought over swing seat to shade us when the sun was at its strongest. Also the BBQ area and seating beside the pool was a great place to have those holiday sun-downers! The pool iteself was spotless and always at the right temperature.
There was plenty of room inside so as not to be on top of each other. We chose to buy food at the local markets and supermarkets and eat in most nights. This was a delight as the kitchen was so well appointed and spacious with enough room to work around each other, being a party of 6 this was really important! With the choice of eating at the large table in the kitchen or outside on the veranda, both with unspoilt views of the valley below, we were in heaven!
When we did drag ourselves away we ate at the nearby town of St Astier which has lovely little pizzeria in the square right beside the church. We travelled to other villages such as Bourdeilles and Brantome for lunch and were never disappointed. Further away was the ruined village of Oradour-sur-Glane (decimated during the second world war) which has been preserved in its ruined state, is an absolute must if you are interested in the past. Although the journey took a couple of hours each way it was something we will never forget.
Wonderful holiday, beautiful surroundings and fabulous hosts – a perfect holiday!
Thank you for such a glowing report, it made us miss you all too.
Please come again another year we would love to see you all again. A perfect family and perfect guests.
We now have 3 goats to join our little farmyard and hopefully a new baby with the chance of fresh milk and cheese later in the year.
Best wishes and lots of love pattie

Second year of bliss! House just as we remembered. Pool amazing. Rooms huge and comfortable. Our older children loved having the wifi and our younger ones satelite TV! We all loved the pool though.
Even cooking was easy - a proper cooks kitchen with all that you would want and more, excellent gas barbeque and a terrace to die for to eat from.
Pattie and Graham are perfect hosts - there if needed but not overpowering.
We have booked for next year and have started to count down the days.
Thank you for such a nice review we look forward to your family returning for the third year in 2012 regards pattie
