Home description
Maison du Verger is a lovely large stone house built in 2007, and has the most spledid panoramic country views in the heart of romantic Dordogne. Our family self-catering villa is offered for summer rental for the first time in 2008 and we can guarantee you will be stunned by its luxury, comfort and fabulous furniture and open spacious rooms. Built in traditional Oak and local stone but yet with latest modern technology.
Maison du Verger is an ideal place to stay as it is in the heart of the Dordogne countryside with local market villages less than 15 min. away. Close to 3 airports and just 8 hours driving from the ports. Set in the semi-rural peaceful, countryside of the exclusive but quaint area of St.Aquilin.
We are just on the outskirts of the main tourist areas which is great as there is not too much traffic here, but they are in fact only just half and hour to an hour away: Brantome, Donne, Sarlat, La Bugue, Les Eyzies, Eymet and half an hour away from the famous vineyards of Bergerac: Chateau Monbazillac ,St.Emilon, Percharmant these places offer tourists great wine tasting.
We have many wonderful things to see and places to visit: Ancient Towns, Lakeside beaches, caves, aqua park, rivers with canoes and kayaks, walking, horse riding. Lovely shopping malls and great restaurants. Just an hour from the wonderful city of Bordeaux. Good quiet roads and probably the best scenery in france. This is an ideal family holiday home for that wonderful holiday in the Dordogne, France.

There are festivals and fetes, fireworks and dancing, celebrations, music evenings on the streets and fairs all with traditional bias and family values.
Discover some of the gastronomic delights in restaurants and cafes, market squares and narrow shopping lanes. Outdoor eating is a must and the way of eating during the summer months here in France. Sample: oysters, foie grass, sheep and goats cheese, asparagus, sanglier(wild boar) and tomatoes with tastes of the garden!!! make a picnic and just sit in a field of poppies or under a willow tree by the river!!
Visit the Boulangerie for french breads with a difference. Try pain au raison or pain au chocolate!!! yummy!!! Sundays visit the vide grenier (boot fairs) for that ancient french bargain or just visit the Brocantes(antique shops) There is a vast array of activities here for you all in the lovely Dordogne.
St Astier / St Aquilin area
St.Aquilin is a very small quaint village, set high above the market town of St.Astier, in an exclusive area with panoramic views and gently rolling hills. The village has one church the infant/junior school and a very small restaurant/village shop. We also have a fishing lake/bar restaurant which is nice to visit on a sunny day, have a drink or snack at the bar and sit outside next to the lovely lake and wonderful ambiance. Julia is an English lady who loves to chat and help you. Or just go for a days fishing.
We are 20 min away from Riberac with its lovely market on a friday. 30 min away from the ancient towns of Bourdeilles and Brantome(venice of the dordogne) 40 min away from the famous and lovely Bergerac and its town and river. The airport is also there in Bergerac and runs from Stanstead daily.
Perigueux our lovely capital of the Dordogne is only 20 min away and well worth a days visit walking through the cobbled streets and visiting all its lovely shops.
We are only 10 min away from the market towns ofTocan and St.Astier where you can find the local supermarkets and street markets and festivals on various days of the week.
St.Aquilin is not only pretty and traditional it is peaceful, friendly and has wonderful countryside, thats why i live here!!!!!
How to get there
There are many cheap airlines that travel to our part of the Dordgne. Bergerac : daily, twice on saturdays during the summer months. With Flybee and Ryan Air..We are just 40 min from Bergerac and it is very straightforward getting here and we provide a map with easy directions on booking. Bordeaux: Just one hour from Gatwick 1.00 hour to us and again I provide a map. We recommend that you hire a car from hertz if you are flying Ryanair as its much cheaper. Both the airports are excellent and opperate many car hire companies. We recommend in the summer you book your car with your flight company just in case you are dissapointed. It is a very stress free place to get to and some people commute!!!
