Home description
Maison Si Bon is a very special retreat nestled opposite the river in the stunning Aveyron Valley. It is a private sanctuary where you can relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings. It is one of only a few properties in the village to have easy river access to the crystal clear waters of the Aveyron River.
Designed to capture the essence of the south west of France, this home offers complete creature comfort, privacy and views that span the valley and yet it's only minutes from the vibrant French life of St. Antonin.
The house was built in 1966. The living area is a light, airy open plan space, boasting floor to ceiling glass doors . Bring the landscape inside when you open the concertina French doors onto a wide south-facing verandah, taking full advantage of the view over the stunning Aveyron River.
With an inviting 9x7 metre family swimming pool, our house is perfect for relaxing in the sun all day (the pool and gardens are in the sun from early morning right through to the end of the day). And for the cooler Winter months, enjoy your favourite glass of red wine in front of our glass fronted wood burner (full central heating is also available, a rarity in most french properties!).

The Midi-Pyrenees / Tarn-et-Garonne region
St Antonin Noble Val lies in the beautiful Aveyron Valley in the heart of Tarn et Garonne (dept 82). The local area teems with breathtaking sites and one can be forgiven for thinking that around every corner lies a beautiful medieval village.
Within a 30 minute drive, the towns of Cordes and Najac must rank highly on the sightseeing list, as does Penne (9km) with its ‘Lord of the Rings’ ruined castle and neighbouring Bruniquel and Puycelsi.
Other activities such as horse riding, caving, rock climbing and cycling can be arranged through the centre but be sure to book well in advance during the summer holidays.
St Antonin Noble Val area
The medieval town of St Antonin Noble Val is a five minute walk along the River Aveyron which flows past the house. Here you can spend time exploring the maze of narrow streets or retrace the footsteps of Cate Blanchett in the film “Charlotte Gray” which was recently filmed here, sitting in the square or down by the river for a coffee, or join the locals for a Pastis in one of the many local bars.
MARKET DAY Every Sunday the town is taken over by a bustling market which winds through the streets and is the focal point of town life. People come from miles around to visit this famous market and it is such a treat to be able to walk there from the house. We recommend you do your food shopping here as the freshness and quality of the food cannot be beaten (there's a wicker shopping basket in the house that is great for carrying all the produce you get at the market).
Other markets can be found at Gaillac and Cordes, whilst Gaillac and Cahors are two great wine centres. Be sure to stock up on the very reasonably priced reds, white and roses of the area.
After a days activity (or pool lounging!) there are several bars and restaurants which are worth a visit before dinner - or if you don’t feel like cooking, for reasonably priced great food and wine. All are within a 10-15 minute walk and are child friendly.
The nearby ‘La Brasserie’ is our favourite with a great, simple menu with good English speaking service. It’s definitely worth a visit, be it for Spaghetti Bolognaise or for Chris’ favourite, the ‘Filet de Boeuf Rossini’.
How to get there
BY AIR St Antonin Noble Val is very well served by both Rodez (Ryanair) and Toulouse (Easyjet, BA, EU Jet, BMI Baby etc) airports. We recommend that you hire a car from the airport (try www.holidayautos.co.uk or cheap-car-rentals.com)
For those of you who do not wish to drive (there is plenty to keep you occupied without hiring a car) we can arrange transfers for up to six people.
BY CAR If driving from the channel ports, avoid getting lost in Paris (as so many do!) by following signs to Paris until you see signs to Bordeaux and then on to Tolouse – Simple! This will take you east around Paris, avoiding the dreaded ‘Peripherique’.
BY TRAIN Arrive in Paris for dinner on the Eurostar from the U.K. www.eurostar.com Then connect with the south bound sleeper train. We can arrange transfers from the station to Maison Si Bon.

A selection of board games and cards are provided in the property.
Further details outdoors: Our pool is newly installed and complies with all the latest safety legislation. The pool is large (9m x 7m) and is a safe 1.2m deep throughout. The pool is situated directly below the verandah, allowing easy supervision of children. Sun loungers and towels are also provided. There is a barbeque on the verandah and a large table and chairs that comfortably seats 8 people, great for outside dining. The driveway is gravelled and is the perfect surface for a game of boules! (provided in the property).
Further details
Bed linen and towels (bath and pool) are available but at an additional charge of £10 per person (this is what the owners are charged for the laundering of such items). We also ask that the property is left in a good condition on departure (beds stripped, all pans and dishes washed up, dish washer emptied, oven cleaned, rubbish taken out). Changeover day is usually on a Saturday (although there is more flexibility out of the peak season) and we kindly ask that the property is vacated by 10.30am to allow enough time for the house to be prepared for new arrivals. The property should be ready for new guests from 3.30pm on the day of arrival.
Conditions
A refundable breakage deposit of £150 is required - in the form of a cheque - for each booking. Once the house has been checked after departure, this cheque will be ripped up if no damage is reported.

Guestbook
A wonderful holiday - the children loved the canoeing (just 100m from the property) and it was great to be able to walk to the bakery each morning for fresh bread and croissants.
What a relaxing break! Try the numerous walks around the surrounding area. Such a beautiful part of France.
Wow - what a great place to be. Myself and 6 girlfriends spent an amazing week at Maison Si Bon in June. The balcony is just perfect for relaxing, drinking wine and looking out over the river! You must go canoeing and horseriding.
