Linmara is a quaint, whitewashed cottage located in the picturesque seaside village of Earlsferry near St Andrews in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland, only 2 minutes from a mile of sandy beach.

James Braid, one of Scotland's most famous golfers and world's most famous golf course designers, lived here as a young boy.

It sleeps up to 6 people and includes linen & towels, logs, travel cot and high chair. Discount can be given to couples and late bookings.

Linmara cottage is a perfect base for golf, water-sports, tennis, walking, boat trips, horse riding, cycling, museums, castles and gardens.

Arrive on holiday and park your car! Elie is walking or cycling distance from Linmara Cottage and provides amenities such as bakery, post office, pharmacy, grocer, delicatessen and gift shops.

Linmara has gas central heating, open fire, sunny front paved garden and a secluded back garden.

The ground floor of the cottage comprises vestibule, hall, bathroom, master bedroom (with king size bed), en-suite shower room, single bedroom with adult bunk beds, kitchen (dishwasher, washer/dryer and mod cons including i-phone docking station) dining area and lounge (open fire, Wall mounted TV with built in DVD player). The kitchen, dining and lounge are 'open plan', ensuring a sociable atmosphere.

Upstairs, a large bedroom offers views towards Elie Golf course and has 3 single beds. A travel cot is available on request. Our younger guests are welcome to use the toys which include a train set, farm set and Baby Annabel (and everything that comes with a baby!)

Included in your stay are logs & coal, heating, linen and towels. A high chair is available. Guest have complimentary use of a hamper, golf umbrella, beach chairs, board games, books and DVDs. The master bedroom has an alarm clock with i-pod player and charger.

Further details outdoors:
Patio doors from the kitchen open to a mature sun trap garden, which has a paved area with table and chairs. The charming back garden is fully enclosed so great for kids. A full sized BBQ is also on offer. Outdoor drying facilities are provided. There is parking opposite the cottage but not guarenteed. There are 2 bicycles available for use by guest but we do not guarantee their availability.

Elie boasts its own 'micro climate' with little rain and plenty sunshine so your Summer can be as relaxed or as active as you wish throughout the day. Take advantage of the long evenings to view the amazing sunsets.

Winter brings you the choice of a walk in the bracing North Sea air or curling up in front of our real log fire. enjoying a hot chocolate or a wee dram of Scotland's national drink.

The St Andrews / Elie and Earlsferry area

GOLF:
If you are looking for a base to enjoy Scottish Links Golf you will love this location. As well as Elie's 2 golf courses, the famous St Andrews Old Course is only 10 miles away. The Facilities at St Andrews, 'the home of golf' are among the finest in the world comprising 7 public courses, 2 clubhouses, a 51 bay driving range, a short game area, 3 practice greens and replica bunkers. Other links golf can be found at Lundin Links, Crail and Kingsbarns. There are more than 30 Golf courses in a 15 mile radius of Linmara!

BOAT TRIPS:
As well as miles of great coastal walks there are daily sailings from Anstruther to the Isle of May, a nature reserve run by Scottish Natural Heritage, boasting incredibly diverse wildlife, a medieval monastery and the oldest lighthouse in Scotland.

WATER SPORTS:
Elie Watersports is based in the Harbour and offers sailing, pedaloes, windsurfing, water-skiing, inflatable rides, wet suit and mountain bike hire. The sheltered bay ensures safety for beginners while the challenges of the open sea can be found beyond the bay! Courses are available and groups welcome. Swimming pools are in St Andrews and Leven.

TENNIS:
Elie sports club is based next to the Golf Club, a 5-minute walk from Linmara. The club boasts 8 tennis courts, practice wall, 2 golf courses, putting course, driving range, bowling green and cyber cafe Pavilion. Golf and tennis coaching is available for all ages and is booked through the Pro Shop next door to the Pavilion.

HORSE RIDING:
Horse riding is available at Kilconquhar Castle Estate Equestrian Centre (5-minutes drive). Kilconquhar offers treks, hacks and lessons in their all weather arena. Birthday Parties can be booked and include riding, buffet and party bags!

FOOD & DRINK:
Elie is famous for Beach cricket and the Beer Garden of the Ship Inn is a perfect venue to watch Elie cricket team, who play on Sundays (www.ship-elie.co.uk for cricket and BBQ times).

If you enjoy your food there is plenty of choice as there are lots of good pubs and restaurants on offer. Within walking distance you will find The 19th Hole, The Pavilion, Harbour House, The Ship Inn, The Station Bar and Elie Coffee Shop while Kilconquhar pub is a 5 minute drive and well worth a visit. There is fine dining on offer at Sangster in Elie, The Cellar in Anstruther or the Peat Inn Restaurant.

SHOPPING:
For more extensive shopping Leven has Sainsburys, Anstruther has the co-op. St Andrews offers a diverse range of specialist shops while fine food shopping Elie can be found in the Delicatessen and Adross Farm Shop is 1 mile East of Elie .

THEATRE:
The Byers Theatre in St Andrews is well worth a visit as is the Cinema. Dundee has the DCA and Caird Hall.

Linmara Cottage is positioned in a fantastic location in the historic Royal Burgh of Elie and Earlsferry on the East coast of Scotland know as the East Neuk of Fife. We are a 2o-minute drive from St Andrews, 45 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and 40 minutes from Dundee. Markinch and Leuchars train stations are 15 miles away.

From the South and West - Cross the Forth Road Bridge, leaving the M90 at junction 2A, following the A92, A911, A915 and the A917 to the town.

From the North - Follow the A913 to Cupar, then the B940 and B941 to Elie and Earlsferry.

From the North via the Tay Bridge - Follow the signs for St Andrews. Turn left at roundabout at Guardbridge then next right signposted Strathkinness/Craigtoun. Go through Peat Inn, Largoward and Kilconquhar.

Drive into Elie and turn right into Bank Street (Harbour House and the Baker on the corners). Drive for half a mile along Earlsferry High Street. Linmara Cottage is on the right opposite the angled parking. There are plenty of parking spaces nearby.
