This house occupies a very secluded position but enjoys easy access to Najac, St Andre De Najac, and La Fouillade. It sits in its own grounds and has a private swimming pool with a large terrace at one end enjoying uninterrupted views over the valley of the river Serene, a tributary of the Aveyron. It has a private garden and parking, a courtyard area with welcome shade provided by a linden tree, a pond with a family of frogs in one corner of the courtyard, and a barbecue area. Bicycles are available on request to explore the nearby Serene or beyond.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region

In the area you will easily find facilities for canoeing, windsurfing, hot-air ballooning, pony trekking, mountain bike riding, and visits to limestone caverns. The Aveyron Gorges are nearby, the Tarn Gorges are a morning's drive away to the east and the Pyrenees are the same distance to the South West. If you prefer you can simply enjoy the undisturbed peace and quiet of La Bernarde and just venture out to sample some of the many fine restaurants in the area or to visit the vineyards of Cahors and Gaillac. There is a golf course at Albi, 30 minutes away.

St Andre de Najac / Canabral area

The cottage is situated close to Najac, which is listed as one of the prettiest villages in France. It is a town which, apart from being spectacularly picturesque, has a long history and retains many features from the days when its chateau was established as a fortress for the Count of Toulouse. A short drive away is the splendidly preserved medieval hilltop village of Cordes sur Ciel. A little further, and still within an hour's drive, is the red-brick medieval town of Albi with its famous cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec museum. Within easy reach are Villefranche de Rouergue, Rocamadour , St. Cirq Lapopie, Bruniquel, and many bastide villages - most with local markets

By Air: Ryanair flies from Stansted to Rodez(1 hour) & Carcassonne(2 hours). Major airlines also fly to Toulouse.(90 minutes)

There is a shower room with toilet in the upper level and a bathroom with shower & toilet on the middle level. There is also a washing machine with its own utility room. The kitchen contains a dishwasher. Satellite TV is available as well as a DVD player.

The property is on 3 levels. One of the two lower bedrooms has doors opening directly onto the courtyard & dining area. The middle level contains the lounge, dining & kitchen areas. There are a further two bedrooms on the third level. In the courtyard there is a well with a stone surround and roof. A herb garden and flower beds are also to be found in the courtyard. A covered pond contains a family of frogs and beside it a seating area makes a wonderfully cool retreat from the summer sun. A private parking area adjacent to the house allows easy access directly to the main entrance on the second level of the house. The 5 x 10 metre pool is close to the house and has a large roof terrace at one end with extensive views.

The pool is exclusively reserved for the renters of this property.

Conditions

A 25% deposit is required to secure a booking with the balance, plus a £200 security deposit, payable eight weeks before the start of the rental period. Changeover day is Saturday. Guests are expected to leave by 10:30 on the day of departure so the property can be made ready for new arrivals at 3pm.
