#1 Mas Clauzel
About the home
A Corner of Paradise... relax and enjoy the Mas experience!
The Mas is a 14C-origin, stone-built hamlet of four households, deep in the French countryside of the Gard - Provence’s western neighbour, across the Rhone valley.
1.5kms up a single-track road from the nearby village, on a raised bluff, it offers the perfect peace, quiet and calm that will call you back again and again. Charmingly built and tastefully restored, with a vine-shaded, south-facing terrace on which to wind down, read, relax and dine.
The main rental property lies up the front steps, via the porch on the western side. The rustic building has been tastefully decorated in the traditional style… with some nice added touches! The raised position gives lovely countryside views from the terrace. Its rustic charm perfectly matches the peace of the surroundings... Paradise!

Guestbook for #1 Mas Clauzel
"We have reminisced many times about our time at Mas Clauzel and especially that balcony. We remember the man with the goats and his two Dobermans and the distant sound of geese from a neighbouring (beautiful) property. Also the array of beautiful wild flowers when we went walking.
My 16 year old daughter was most helpful in suggesting that I sell my car and buy a cheaper one to fund another trip to France......not so sure she’d be as willing to give up on the possibility of us buying her a car once she gets her license??? Anyway, I will never forget the kitchen at Mas Clauzel.......a view over the countryside on one side and the beautiful large windows looking onto the fig on the other......what a treat! "
"Just returned from an excellent holiday in France. I have to say that your place is really wonderful. It is extremely well equipped and very peaceful (unnervingly so at times - you have to listen carefully to make sure there is still life out there!). Evenings (with wine) on the balcony were magic...! We spent time in Avignon which was very pleasant, and also went to most of the other places that you mentioned. Uzes was particularly splendid on the first Sunday - they had a donkey festival! La Roque sur Ceze is simply breathtaking in amongst the cascades of water. All in all a splendid week."
"Mas Clauzel is a hilltop oasis of calm. The house is comfortable and well stocked, with a kitchen that is a pleasure to cook in. But the icing on the cake is the truly remarkable balcony - with stunning views across the valley and lovely spaces to sit and relax in. We could have spent the entire holiday just hanging out here - reading, chatting, playing games and enjoying great meals al fresco. Which is largely what we did!"
"Just to say we had a wonderful time in France and spent our time driving around to Montpellier, Arles, Orange, Pont du Gard, Nimes and a few other places. Your home is beautiful and I can certainly understand you wanting to trade London/UK for that view every morning!"
