The Cornwall region

Why go abroad when you can come to Cornwall?!

Dramatic coastline, miles of sandy beaches, picturesque harbours and villages, rugged countryside and a fascinating heritage – Cornwall has something to offer in every season.

A mecca for surfers, Cornwall has dozens of surfing beaches each with their own unique character. Why not try a lesson from one of our surf schools? Cornwall's most popular beaches are lifeguarded throughout the summer, and with many beaches stretching for miles with soft golden sands it's a great place for families to play and relax.

Cornwall is also a walkers' paradise, with over 2,000 miles of public footpaths, including the famous South West Coast Path, amongst other routes and trails. With nearly 1/3 of the county designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty you will never be short of incredible sights in Cornwall, from natural phenomenon such as the bizarre Cheesewring on the wilds of Bodmin Moor, to the causeway at St Michael's Mount or even catching a glimpse of seals lazing on the beach at Mutton Cove!

St Agnes

A quaint and picturesque seaside village, St Agnes also has two surfing beaches and several areas of unspoilt National Trust land, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Though smaller than Perranporth, St Agnes does offer a good selection of pubs and restaurants, as well as local shops. The South West Coast Path can be accessed from St Agnes if you want to explore Cornwall's stunning coastline, and a climb to the top of St Agnes Beacon will be rewarded with spectacular views.

"Great base for a family holiday in St Agnes"

We stayed at the Old School House for a week in August and it proved to be a great base for a family holiday. The bedrooms and bathroom have been recently refurbished and are of a high standard, the open plan kitchen/sitting room makes for sociable family evenings if you're staying in and the TV worked just fine! I had read in a previous review that the apartment was not particularly clean and the TV didn't work - we didn't find that to be the case. In terms of location, it is walkable to the beach, but not if you have kids and are lugging bodyboards etc, so we ended up driving to Aggie beach!

Many thanks for taking the time to write such a positive review. We're glad you had a lovely holiday and a great experience at the Old School House and hope to be of assistance to you again in the future. Kind regards

"Attractive, good location but noisy"

The apartment itself is very nicely decorated with a great open plan kitchen/living room, fantastic bathroom and decent sized bedroom. It is centrally located in St Agnes with a car park to the rear o… More

Flat clean superficially. cobwebs all over the place up high and behind stuff. Parking poor, especially with young kids. TV old and not working. Door latch a nuisance. Only one key given - had to ask for a second. Contact details for Duchy holidays were out of date - no ring back re problems over Bank Holiday weekend although they did sort issues immediately once we visited the office.
Noisy 4.30/5am with rookery in trees adjacent.
No towels or tea towels provided and usual crap self catering lack of toliet rolls, washing up liquid and basics.

Thank you very much for your comments. Our mobile out of hours number is always given to our guests on arrival in a letter with their keys, however it was unfortunate that your welcome letter showed an out of date number. We are very sorry for any inconvenience and pleased to hear that as soon as the problems were raised to us in the office that we were able to sort them straight away. Again, we appreciate your comments and will be taking them on board. Duchy Holidays
