House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Treth House is a brand new luxury eco-home close to the famous Trevaunance Cove in the beautiful Cornish village of St Agnes. ('Treth' is a Cornish word meaning 'beach' or 'sea-shore'.) It has a natural sedum roof and high levels of insulation - cool in summer, snug in winter!
It is situated on a quiet hillside site off Rocky Lane. The house has commanding views over the wooded valley and towards the sea - in fact, the photo at the top of this page was taken just a few metres from the front door! The beach, the renowned Driftwood Spars gastro-pub, and a great fish-and-chip shop are all less than five minutes' walk.
The centre of St Agnes is only 10 minutes' walk away. There are shops for just about everything, including two mini-markets, as well as a great choice of pubs and restaurants. Our favourite - No. 4 Peterville - has just beaten Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and Nathan Outlaw to be voted the top restaurant in Cornwall. And it's only 10 mins' walk away!
Treth House is the ideal base for surfing, relaxing on the beach, walking or just getting away from it all.

About this location
The Cornwall region
The north Cornwall coast is a spectacular and beautiful treasure trove that rewards exploration. There are many small coves, most with lovely beaches, and the walks along the cliffs are breathtaking. In fine weather the sea is a gorgeous turquoise colour lending a Mediterranean feel to the area.
St. Ives (35mins), Newquay (25mins) and Padstow (40mins) are short drives away. They are all lovely seaside towns with plenty to do and great restaurants. The county town of Truro is 15mins' drive and has supermarkets, restaurants, cinema, a thriving shopping centre and the famous Hall for Cornwall. The Eden Project is about 40mins' with the lovely historic town of Fowey close by.
St Agnes is a charming historical village with a friendly atmosphere and a wide range of facilities. There is a Barclays bank, a post office, two mini-markets, a hairdresser, an organic produce shop, a real butcher, various antique and gift shops and more.
The village has several excellent pubs (eg. the close-by Driftwood Spars and St Agnes Hotel), most of which offer food. The Cornish Pizza Company does excellent takeaway pizzas, and there are two fine fish-and-chip shops. One of these - Lewsey-Lou's - is part-owned by ex-England rugby player Josh Lewsey and is 3-4mins' walk from Treth House.
Most of the pubs (see above) offer excellent food from pub grub to restaurant standards. Right on the front at Trevaunance Cove is Schooner's Bistro, very good food and fabulous views. In the valley below Treth House on Quay Road is Genkis run by Owen and Natalie. Great coffee, cakes, paninis and salads, and the BBQ'd bacon baps on a Sunday morning are a must! At the top of Quay Road is No. 4 Peterville (our favourite), a truly excellent restaurant run by the ever-welcomng Nola. Next door to No. 4 is the Taphouse, a lively wine bar offering delicious food.
The area around St Agnes is blessed with many wonderful walks. Watch the sun go down from St Agnes Beacon, or just marvel at the fabulous views along the coastal walks.
Visiting gorgeous Chapel Porth - less than 10 mins by car or a lovely 50 min walk - is a must and you can't leave without savouring one the famous 'hedgehog' ice-creams from the café. About 15mins' drive is Portreath with its breathtaking sands and a very good beach restaurant - the Blue-Bar.
