The Scottish Borders region
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
With a delightful harbour and a knot of fishermen's cottages nestled amongst the hillside, St. Abbs is a picturesque fishing village situated on a beautiful stretch of Berwickshire coastline. Just over the Border into Scotland, this charming location offers a wide variety of activities. The St. Abbs Head Nature Reserve is home to a number of rare species of birds and wildlife whilst the Cheviots, Scottish Borders and spectacular coastline all offer great walking opportunities. Less than a mile away in Coldingham, there is a safe, sandy beach, or if you prefer a more urban environment the historic fortified Border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh are both close by. Berwick offers a museum and a castle whilst off the coast, the Farne Islands remain popular attractions amongst bird watchers and lovers of Lindisfarne Mead.
