The Florida / Florida Gulf Coast region
As one of the most unspoiled regions of Florida the area really boasts natural beauty, with stunning coastlines and many conservation areas. It's not all about disney either, there's an abundance of things to see and do with many attractions, restaurants and bars to visit and for those looking to relax you can soak up the sun on one of the many golden sand beaches.
Springhill / Weeki Wachee area
The Hernando conservation area has many places to visit which protect injured and vunerable animals such as the manatee. There are relaxing and enjoyable river rides through the conservation areas and a chance to see many small animals. Pine island beach is 10 minutes away, small and secluded out on a peninsular with a spectacular view on the way there. A small café provides a wide variation of food, there is a children's play area and BBQ areas with covered table and seating. Weeki Watchi spring water park is nearby and open daily throughout the summer.
How to get there
Fly to Orlando – Springhill is one and half hour drive on highway 50. Fly to Tampa and Springhill is 35 minutes on the Sun Coast highway. American and BA airlines fly to Tampa Tour operators such as virgin atlantic , Thomas Cooke and Air tours fly to Orlando. Car hire can be available from yes car hire, or dollar.
