La Villa Spoleto is a characteristic Italian holiday villa in central Umbria, tastefully decorated with all comforts and luxury. This very private villa (owner does not live here) is surrounded by a 5000m2 estate. The villa has two self sufficient, connected living areas which makes it ideal for 2 or 3 families or a small group of friends.
La Villa spoleto has everything from a private pool (12x5) with dressing rooms, a gym, a drive way with wall fountain, a private tennis court, a Jacuzzi bath, a remote controlled entrance gate, a wine cellar, a comfortable lounge with bar, a spacious living with fireplace, two kitchens and a superb 5000 m2 hilly garden around the house with traditional Pizza oven and professional BBQ.
The connected but autonomous living areas are named La Casa (2+2p) and La Torre (7+2p). Each has its own private entrance. In total La Villa Spoleto can accommodate up to 13 persons.
La Casa is the ground level with an atmospheric living room, a kitchen, a bedroom and a toilet/shower. A terrace door gives way to a patio with lovely view on the private garden, pool and surroundings. La Casa is suitable for 2+2 persons.
La Torre upstairs is a tower shaped structure with three floors. Each floor has a bedroom with private shower/toilet next to it. One of the bathrooms has a Jacuzzi hottub. On the first floor there is a cozy living kitchen with BBQ fireplace. All bedrooms have pool view and a panorama on the beautiful Umbrian landscape near Spoleto. La torre is suitable for up to 7+2 persons.
La Villa Spoleto has its own wine cellar, cut out of the rock to keep the local wine in perfect condition. Attached to the Villa is a former chapel converted into a lounge with private bar. Closeby, on walking distance there are different traditional restaurants.
La Villa Spoleto is tucked away in the surrounding hills of Spoleto but not far from this artistic city with many cultural events, musea, performances and historical buildings. On the other side of the Ponte delle Torre is the Monte Luco, an ancient sacred forest well known for its untouched nature and the perfect place for a relaxing walk, active hiking day, meditation or horse riding.

The Umbria region
Umbria is in the center of Italy between Florence and Rome and called the green heart of Italy. This enchanting, typical Italian region offers an excellent mix of nature, art and culture. Adding to this you will soon after your arrival enjoy the excellent local food and wines.
Umbria has many hilltowns, vineyards and a beautiful countryside full of olive trees growing on the surrounding hills. Umbria is home to Spoleto, Assisi, Perugia, Lake Trasimeno, Bevagna, Norcia and the well known wine village of Monte Falco.
The Umbria region has a very pleasant sunny climate from April until October with the summer months of July and August being particularly warm. Many festivals and local sagra celebrations take place during the spring and summer season. For example the famous art and wine festival of Spoleto, Umbrian Jazz in Perugia, the truffle celebration in Scheggino, the medieval festival in Narni, the horse race of Foligno and the traditional archery contest of Bevagna.
Umbria has many unspoiled natural attractions like the Monte Subasio, the Sibillini national parc, the Valnerina valley
The landscape makes it excellent for hiking, fishing, rafting, ski-ing, swimming, caving, climbing, horse riding, cycling, mountain biking and excursions.
Maybe the best thing about Umbria is the lack of mass tourism which makes this unique region one of the most enjoyable and relaxing in Italy!
Spoleto is often being called the art city of Italy. Although Spoletini are quite modest about their cultural heritage they have plenty of reasons to be proud on their city, its history, the well kept monuments and its beautiful unspoiled surroundings.
Spoleto is a walled hill town and one of the largest towns in southern Umbria. Spoleto has Etruscan, Roman and medieval sites. Above Spoleto is the medieval Rocca castle and spanning the deep gorge to one side of the Rocca is Spoleto's most famous sight, il Ponte delle Torri or Bridge of Towers, an ancient aquaduct which can be walked over. On the other side starts the sacred forest which has been a sanctuary for wildlife from roman times onwards. It was once visited by San Francesco on his pilgrimmage to Rome.
The world famous ART festival dei due mondi, two worlds festival, is held in Spoleto in late June through early July. Vini nel mondo is a three days wine festival that attracts many Italians from all around the region for testing local wines, enjoying local food and listening to concerts.
Spoleto is very well connected to Rome, Perugia and Florence by railway and road. Rome is only a 2 hour drive or fifteen minutes less by train! Perugia and Trasimeno lake is a pleasant one hour drive and Florence can be a nice one or two days excursion. The Adriatic coast is a 2 hour drive through the mountains and in the winter the ski slopes can be reached in just over one hour.

"Feel like a nobleman in your private little castle"
In May 2013 I visited La Villa Spoleto, a beautiful property in the green hills near Spoleto. I was hosted by Sebastiaan and Foroogh, the friendly and helpful managers who succeeded in making my stay there very pleasant. I visited a wine farm and some nice restaurants in the area. I visited the towns of Spoleto, Montefalco and Perugia, and I even went on a day trip to Rome, which can easily be reached from the villa by car. The villa is spacious and the beddings are new. Because of the secluded location, looking out from the deck chair at the pool over the villa's garden and the rural surroundings felt very private. In the evenings I liked hanging out in the cute little bar at the backside of the building. The place also seems nice for group barbecues and/or still stay in shape on the tennis court by playing few games...
