About the home

Il Colle di Giano is a Comfortable and pleasant house, part of an ancient little village near the castle of Macerino, built in pink natural stone. His principal feature is the tranquility and the pacefulness of the area, that is perfect for a period of relax in contact with nature. The house has large external places into oaks, with a garden and a swimming pool. There is also the possibility to cook outdoor with the barbecue.

Is perfect as a base to visit villages and countries were San Francesco and Santa Chiara lived (Assisi, Todi, Narni, Spello, Spoleto, ecc.). Moreover it's possible to easily reach Roma to visit it's museums and archaeological sites and to do shopping.

Il Colle di Giano is a two storey house, composed by two indipendents spaces; on the ground floor there is a living room with kitchenette, fireplace and TV SAT, two bedrooms (one with double bed and the other with a bunk bed) and a bathroom with shower and washing machine.

The house is 800 mt far from Macerino village, where you can find a sporting complex with tennis courts, football and volleyball field.

Moreover in Macerino village you can find three restaurants/bar and pizzeria.

The rental rates price includes: final cleaning, linen and towels with weekly change, water, electricity and gas for kitchen; it doesn’t includes heating, which necessitates additional costs from November to April.
There are some bicycles available.

In the kitchen there are some basic provisions.
Typical homemade cake and a bottle of local wine will welcome you.

During the winter period an extra fee for gas / heating is required from November to April.

The Umbria region

Umbria, mystical and green, rich in natural beauty, in art and history, offers to the visitor many and important reasons to visit the area. With picturesque landscapes, exceptional artistic heritage, there are villages dating from the Middle Age, castles, churches and sanctuaries. Other ancient and quiet villages and archaeological sites make up the area.

From Il Colle di Giano it is possible to reach within a short time all the most historical and artistic sites of Umbria; Spoleto (15km), renowned through out the world for its Festival, an internationally important musical and cultural event, which runs from the second half of June to the second half of July, Assisi (45km), the heart of Christian spiritually, with the Basilica of San Francesco, Perugia (60 km), the capital of Umbria, an ancient and majestic town, and Orvieto (50 km), with the Cathedral, a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture.
There are many minor centres, rich in art and history, for example Narni, Todi, Spello, Montefalco, Bevagna, Trevi Norcia, Cascia. In these localities you can sample foods and drinks typical of Umbria, for example truffles and the Sagrantino of Montefalco.

The archaeological Roman site of Carsulae ( third century A.C.) is only a quarter of an hour drive away.
Moreover it is possible to visit some localities of incomparable beauty, for example Marmore falls (30 mins) or the plain of Castellucio di Norcia ( 1 hour and 30 mins ).

The Spoleto / Macerino area

Macerino is a small and ancient village, 12 kilometres from Acquasparta and 15 from Spoleto which conserves the medieval charm with its narrow alleys. We can find historical information about Macerino dating to 1093 A.C. .

The castle was built with the particular form of extended rectangle and in every angle there was a solid tower. This fort was built for residential purposes.

It is immersed in a green vast forest where you can walk, with Macerino as part of Monti Martani Trekking route.
There are two neighbourhood Restaurants where they serve authentic Umbrian food, for example truffles, pasta, meat of wild boar, cured pork meats.

Fly to Rome, airport of Fiumicino ( Leonardo da Vinci ) or Ciampino. Here you can rent a car or take the train
( Ancona line ) and get off in Terni where you can take a taxi or rent a car. Macerino is just one hour and 30
mins drive from Rome and 30 mins from Terni.

By Ryanair you can fly to Perugia from Stansted airport in London and drive to Macerino which takes about 50 minutes.

Other low-cost options are flying to Ancona, Pescara and Pisa ( about two hours drive ).
