The Lincolnshire region
This is a wonderful area of countryside with some of the most beautiful, unspoilt scenery in the East Midlands. There are rolling hills and hidden valleys, gentle streams and nestling villages.
The Lincolnshire Wolds is the highest land in eastern England between Kent and Yorkshire – there are fine views to the Pennines in the west, and the coast to the east.
The Lincolnshire Wolds is a living, working landscape, with woodland, grassland and abandoned chalk pits providing important habitats for rare flowers and wildlife. Most was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1973 following considerable local campaigning. This designation means the landscape is some of Britain's finest countryside.
Our idyllic location is in one of the highest and most picturesque parts of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The Barn is located on working arable farm on the eastern side of Lincolnshire.
For anyone wanting the perfect peaceful country retreat then the Lincolnshire Wolds is the area to come, far from the madding crowd, but also close enough to some very attractive Market towns, with easy access to the cathedral city of Lincoln.
The east coast with its gloroius wide sandy beaches and many sea side resorts including Skegness, Mablethorpe and Sutton-On-Sea are within easy reach, so there is something to match whatever holiday mood you are in.
Spilsby : 3 miles
Horncastle : 6 miles
Woodhall Spa : 14 miles
Louth : 15 miles
Skegness : 20 miles
Lincoln : 28 miles
Golf courses are found within 18 miles. An aviation museum is 3½ miles and historic Bolingbroke Castle is 1½ miles.
Places of interest include but are not limited to:
Lincolnshire Aviation Centre
The only place in the country to see a Lancaster Bomber on an original wartime airfield, and ride in it! (pre book only). Including, original Control Tower, welcoming NAAFI and an emotionally evocative Memorial Chapel containing the 848 names of personnel who gave their lives from this airfield.
Woodthorpe Golf Course
Fancy a round of golf? Visitors over the age of 10 can enjoy the course by paying green fees on a daily basis.
Situated on the southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, Snipe Dales is one of the few semi-natured wet valley systems still surviving. These wet valleys, rough grazing, and scrub and wood land of the Nature Reserve provided good habitat for a variety of wildlife.
Rand Park Farm
Great for the kids with trampolines, parks and farm animals.
Skegness is a seaside resort that's small enough to offer a friendly atmosphere, but large enough to provide hours of entertainment for young and old alike.
antasy Island Skegness is a world full of fun, thrills and experiences for everyone and appeals to all ages. Very close to Fantasy Island is a well developed and popular market, open all week, outdoor and indoor markets, which has been known for being the largest market in Europe.
Our local motor racing circuit only 15 minute drive away.
Centrepiece Tea Rooms
In the quaint, old fashioned tea room with its open fires, we serve freshly prepared, home made food including delicious cakes, scones, pastries and pies. Whether you want a full dinner or just a snack we cater for all dietary needs.
Nestled in the market town of Horncastle, Shakesby's is a restaurant specialising in traditional British cuisine served with a hint of the modern and delivered to you in an environment that is both charming and inviting.
Located in Horncastle, offering some of the best cuisine available in the county.

"Fabulous location and superb accommodation"
My husband and I spent a week in the Barn with our 3-year old this summer. The accommodation is spacious, spotless, quiet and comfortable. The location is stunning - beautiful, rural views as far as the eye can see and the hosts were warm, friendly and helpful.
Whilst nice and secluded, the property is also near some a number of towns which are full of character and offer all the amenities you need away from home. On the other end of the scale you can also get to places like Skegness easily and there are various tourist attractions, a cinema, theatre, many pubs and a number of restaurants within easy reach.
We will definitely be returning!
