Cher client,

Dear Guest,

We are glad you had a good stay in our cottage. I am sorry that you did not realise that the electricity was not included in the price, but it is clearly stated on our website in the “Rates and Availability” page ( In future, we will pass on this information during the enquiry stages of guest booking to ensure that it is clear to all guests (the average electricity cost is €10 per week).

Please be aware that although the cottage has an old feel it is insulated to the very high standards, and ventilation is provided by opening windows. The central living area has a high ceiling (with overlooking balcony) and naturally it will require an amount of energy to heat this area. Also, April is not the warmest period of the year in Ireland!

Although 14 hours per week oil central heating is included in the weekly rental price, in reality, this amounts to 28-30 hours of heating time as the boiler switches on and off a number of times when it reaches the set temperature, i.e. it does not run continuously.

We accept that there might have been some misunderstanding in how best to use the heating system due to language difficulties (I am not a fluent French speaker). You only used 9 hours oil central heating (see above, 14 hours were included in the price) so you could have used another 5 hours for free. We have prepared a “welcome/information” document in French so that it will be clear to all our future guests how best to use the central heating system in order to gain maximum benefit from it.

We thank you very much for your feedback and hope to see you in Ireland again in the future.

Best regards,
