The Saint Peter Parish region

The St Peter Parish region

The Parish of St Peter is located in the north side of Barbados, the main town in St Peters is Speightstown, the second largest in Barbados. A very historical place and was once a busy port for the island but nowadays it is a much more relaxed area and a charming place to wander around.

Situated on the west coast of Barbados, every body speaks english as it was an english colony, the water tastes great and is ok to drink from the tap as it comes through the coral rocks, Barbados is renowned for its lovely weather & warm blue seas, there are spectacular festivals at all different times of the year, you may wish to take safari land rover to have a guided tour of the Island, hire a car or use public transport to visit the many tourist sites, which range from under ground caves, wild life parks, orchid gardens, historic plantation houses, Ostins fish market (famous for barbecue grilling & outdoor music & market stalls ever friday night) you can visit rum factories where they will let you taste the local rums & a demonstration on how they are produced, there is even a banks beer tour for the beer drinker, there is horse racing at the garrison every other saturday & horse riding for the more energetic of you, plenty of golf courses to enjoy for the golfer, or you may want to fish, take a boat ride, water ski, shop in bridgetown (Barbados's largest town) what ever you do you can be assured of a great welcome by the friendly local people.

Barbados weather is warm & sunny all year with an average daytime high of 75-85 F. The rain usually comes in quick showers, the dry season last from January to June.

Speightstown

The Speightstown/ Heywoods Area

Speightstown offers great watersport activities including boat trips, water skiing, jet skis, deep sea fishing etc.

There are some great places to eat to suit all budgets.

Highly recommended is the fish pot Restaurant, it is a small ride along the coast to St Lucy, it is on a beach front setting & ideal for a romantic meal in lovely coral stone surrounding with waves splashing up the restaurant walls.

You will find plenty of take away food outlets & small cafes locally (too many to list)

There is the Fishermans pub in Speightstown where you can have relaxing drink in a typically Bajan bar overlooking the calm blue sea.

You can shop in numerous supermarkets, chemists, clothing shops, market stalls, or visit one of the many banks, in fact you will find almost any thing you require locally.

Port saint charles beach is just a few minutes walk and is one of the best beaches on the island, it is never crowded and is perfect for swimming & sunbathing & in the evenings you can simply stroll and watch the sun go down

The apartment is on quiet road amongst many other houses, the people are very friendly and always say hello when passing you by, the garden of the house is lined with shrubs with a nice lawn, there is a car port and small drive way where you may park your car off the road and inside the gates

"Excellent Accomodation in Great Location"

We have stayed in this comfotrable appartment on 4 occasions and each time it has been a really great holiday. It is in a quiet residential area of Speightstown on the West Coast and the appartment is very well kept and clean. The utility room attached to the side of the building is particularly useful for laundry. If you hire a car you can park in the car port under cover. If you don't have a car there is a bus terminus (5min.walk) where you can get a bus to most locations on the island, very cheap as well. Speightstown is only a 10min.walk and the Almond Beach even less which has a lot of watersport activities available. People are freindly. Jordan's Supermarket in Speightstown is handy for groceries etc. The appartment is very comfortable and we just come and go as we please, sometimes eat in,sometimes eat out and it's our home while we are on holiday. We hope to be able to stay again sometime. Barbados is a great place to experience, from the busy South Coast,to the beautiful West Coast with amazing beaches,to the rugged and quite baron East Coast. There are many interesting places to visit and things to do. We think it's suitable for people of any age. Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Thank you so much for your review & I hope you will come again to our villa in Heywoods, as you have been four times it would be lovely to have you back again soon to enjoy the Barbados experience. kind regards Bob

"A Dream Come True!"

I spend a lot of time travelling for my job and needed an environment that allowed my girlfriend and I access to beaches and to shopping while allowing us to return to a place that felt like home. This was all of those things and more. We found ourselves just as content to stay in and relax as we did leaving the place and laying on the beach. We were able to wash our clothes and hang them out on the line out back which was convenient and inexpensive. The owners keep the place clean and well kept and we felt safe and sound. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a comfortable, safe, well pointed place a short drive from great beaches and restaurants. Holiday rentals can be a gamble but this is one that paid off brilliantly. Patrick Monroe

Thank you for your review I am so glad you enjoyed your Barbados experience kind regards Bob

"Amazing Apartment in Heywoods, Barbados"

This was my first trip to Barbados and I was recommended to stay at this apartment. I wasn't disappointed, and it more than surpassed my expectations. On arrival it was clean, tidy and well equipped. All the rooms were very spacious. It is a very short walk to the nearest beach, which was stunning, and there were lots more beaches to choose from close by. There are many excellent restaurants in the area, and I can highly recommend the Fish Pot for great local sea food and Just Grilling, which provides very high quality food at great prices. Mullins Beach restaurant was also very good. There's lots to do in the area, and there are several great golf courses on the island. A trip to Harrisons Caves and a tour of Mount Gay rum distillery shouldn't be missed! The capital, Bridgetown, is about a 40 minute drive away, and worth a visit for the shops, bars and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone, and look forward to my next visit.

Thank you for positive feed back, I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to Barbados and that you chose to stay at the Heywoods villa for your holiday in the sun
