The St Peter Parish region
No matter what your tastes there is something for everyone on the beautiful island of Barbados. It's very easy to get around independently, either on public transport (a trip on a reggae bus is an absolute must), or if you decide to hire a car. Whatever, there is so much to see and do that one visit to Barbados will not be enough.
There are lots of historic sights, preserved sugar plantations and colonial buildings, nature areas, such as Animal Flower Cave, the amazing Harrison's Cave, beautiful stunning scenery along the rugged East Coast and of course the fabulous white sandy beaches that Barbados is famous for.
If you decide not to hire a car - a trip on a local reggae bus will cost you $1.50 bds. (around 70p) for any length of journey - try it just for the experience.
The property is located on the edge of historic Speightstown. During the week you can see Caribbean life as it has been for hundreds of years, the fishermen bringing in the days catch, to be sold later at Speightstown fish market, the colourfully dressed ladies selling exotic fresh fruit and vegetables at the side of the main street, the general hustle and bustle of a busy Caribbean town.
All amenities are within a 2/3 minute walk, including: banks, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, bars, internet access etc. The local pub 'The Fisherman's Pub' has live music every Wednesday, where a cool, Bank's beer awaits.
The area is blessed with a beautiful white sandy beach, known as Heywoods, some of the best swimming, diving (including night dives with the fabulous Reefers and Wreckers) and snorkeling in the area.
Nearby Holetown with it's many shops and restaurants is located just a 15 minute drive away. Many popular sights are within easy reach including, the rugged and breathtaking east coast, a surfers paradise. In short something for everyone.
Local Activities: Diving, surfing, swimming, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, wind-surfing, water skiing

"We loved our stay here and will be back"
We have a great week in this lovely apartment. Its location is just wonderful, across a very quiet street to the beach. Just outside of Speightown which we really liked - much much less touristy tha… More

"WOW !! and what a great welcome to Barbados"
We recently rented this apartment or one week following a cruise. We arrived before the "official " check in time & Trisha let us store our luggage in the apartment. We went for a leisurely lunch , at a restaurant recommended by Trish whilst she & her Cleaner thoroughly cleaned the apartment. We arrived back , still ahead of time & Trish greeted us with a drink of the local rum on the terrace . A laid back start to a laid back holiday !!
The apartment is beautifully furnished & has everything you could want for a great holiday .
The apartment is in a quiet position with views to die for, it is however , in very easy , short strolling distance to Speightstown , with its bars shops & restaurants.
Speightstown has a bus terminal where you can catch a bus to anywhere on the island for 2BBD $ ( 66p!!)
With the help of Trisha , we were able to enjoy the local scene , and visited bars and restaurant's which were off the tourist trail.
Trish was very accommodating on our departure allowing us to stay in the apartment until it was time to go to the airport.
We were surprised at the previous occupants comments about wires in the bathroom??? We had a Health and Safety guru in our party and he did not see any violations to Health and Safety ( or indeed wires?)??
I have attached some of our photos to show what a great apartment
A great introduction to Barbados. We will return

"A nice appartment but badly managed"
We had a fabulous holiday in Speightstown. The locals were very friendly, food and rum punch good, and the apartment was very comfortable with a fabulous view. However, we surprised the owner, Trisha … More
Well...what can I say....unfortunately some people are never happy., and only ever complain after they receive their security deposit money back.. and never ever complain at the time when asked if all is ok.
Yes., they did arrive early through customs., that was the only surprise as it normally takes several hours., my housekeeper and I were still working on the apartment when they arrived as I had guests just previously checking out.
I can categorically say that the guests comments about cleanliness are absolutely false..
I don't accept small children in my property, something that.seemed to be overlooked.
As regards any comments said guest has referred to, I can only wonder why nothing was said at the time, and only once deposit had been duly returned.
I am able to have access at any time, and did call in advance, both on the telephone and by the doorbell.
I stipulate that to please not abuse the AC system., or excess charges will result in the loss of security deposit., this was not adhered to as ACs on full whilst non occupancy was occurring ., yet I still refunded the deposit.
Unfortunately these guests are looking for accommation way beyond what they wish to pay for.
Barbados is an expensive Caribbean option, my property is very reasonably priced.
They really need to check out other places of a similar prices range...,they would then be truly surprised.
I asked the guest to please write a review, and as he had not complained about one single thing I'm quite shocked that this was the reply.
He was extremely agitated to receive his deposit money back, which I always state will be received within 15 days of departure, he harangued me from day one.., and then posted this review the moment he received it.
You can't please everybody...but both myself and my housekeeper Marva try our best.:)

Many thanks to Trisha for opening her homey beach front apartment to us. This was our third trip to Barbados and our first stay in Speightstown. Third time was definitely the charm! We had visited Speightstown on previous holidays and loved its quiet, its friendliness and quaintness and unique and varied dining options (a visit to the town is incomplete without a stop at the Fisherman's Pub for a cold Banks and some hot fish cakes!). We saw the White Sands apartments during one of our day trips and wondered if they were rentals. It was a pleasant surprise to find some of them online available for holiday goers. When we came across Trisha's penthouse we were hooked and we reserved right away. Trisha was immediately responsive and helpful. The apartment is exactly as presented. The outstanding view and the location were the two big draws and we were not disappointed. It was a dream realized to stay in this apartment and to watch the sunsets each evening; to hear the waves against the shore; to take leisurely strolls into town for breakfast ocean-side at the Orange Street Grocer or to pick up a few fresh pastries from the local bakery to go with our coffee on the deck back at the apartment, and, in the evenings, to enjoy dinner at one of the many local restaurants. We also took advantage of the fantastic location to take the public bus to Bathsheba for the day (the bus depot is conveniently nearby and the online schedules are pretty accurate!). In Bathsheba, we wandered the beach and had a leisurely brunch at the Atlantis in nearby Tent Bay. The bus is a deal at $2 BDS one way, and it's a great way to see this very scenic and breathtaking part of the island. We also spent a morning at St Nicholas Abbey, and enjoyed a sunset dinner at the Fish Pot on our last night. We took a day trip by local bus to Holetown, starting off at Holders Market on the Sunday morning, and then walking the beaches along the "Gold Coast". Have not forgotten the many Speightstown and area beaches -- We took advantage of most of them in and near town, and particularly enjoyed evening swims watching the sunset at the Port Saint Charles beach.
Speightstown is really a beautiful Barbados gem -- steeped in history, a quiet, friendly ocean-front refuge with proximity to the action and tourist sites if that is your interest. Many thanks to Velda for the warm welcome, and to Trisha for all of your helpfulness along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This place and Speightstown are must visits!

What a fantastic apartment. My wife and I stayed for a week on our 'Baby Moon', and thoroughly enjoyed both the apartment and the location. The apartment is directly overlooking Turtle Beach, a wonderfully quiet & clean small beach which we had to ourselves most mornings. Speightstown is a very quaint little town, with a local feel to it which allows you to experience the 'real' Barbados, very unlike most resort towns on the west coast.
The apartment location is just slightly out of town; only a few minutes walk but enough to ensure a quiet and peaceful stay. There are several restaurants close by; I would recommend 'Val's Place', for tasty home cooked food and to meet local people.
The apartment is very tastefully decorated, and contains many of Trisha's own furnishings and belongings. This gives the place a lovely homely feel, in comparison to that of many blandly decorated rentals.
There is a beautiful private sun terrace with sea view to spend time outside, a very comfortable lounge room, and two cool and fabulously opulent bedrooms.
The television is new and large, with a plentiful range of DVDs to watch, which we did enjoy as we had a few evenings in, due to my wife's pregnancy.
I'd like to thank Trisha for a wonderful stay, and Velda for ensuring the apartment was spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Both Trisha and Velda were very helpful pre-visit, and also providing information during our stay.
I loved the American style ice making fridge, and powerful showers! All the white goods, fixtures and fittings worked perfectly during our visit.
I would highly recommend a stay at Turtle Beach. We have now stayed at quite a few apartments in Barbados, and this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Thanks again Velda and Trisha!
Thanks very much for the nice review, I'm so happy that you enjoyed your stay in my property. You will be welcome back at anytime, complete with baby !! Hope all goes well, and hope to see you all again very soon. Kind regards Trisha

"fabulous time.....amazing views....superb surfing!!"
this was our first visit to Barbados for quite some time...we had forgotten how wonderful it really is!!! So laid back!!
We have always stayed in hotels., but this time decided to have more privacy and enjoy some time without a schedule and go as we please. What a great decision that was!!
From the moment Velda (housekeeper), welcomed us into the property our vacation truly began. With warm smiles and true Bajan hospitality, Velda was a wealth of local information. We cracked open the complimentary bottle of Mount Gay Rum and drank in the amazing Caribbean views. Total relaxation.
The property is fabulously situated and well equipped with everything you could need, The owner (Trish) contacted us on arrival., to ensure all was ok, including the hire car and airport pick up had gone smoothly. Have to recommend the hire company (David)., ...well I think it was David ...ask Trish ... they collected us on time at the airport, then provided us with a great car service after! have to say tho that the last couple of days (without car)., we took a chance on the Reggae busses ....WOW ., what an experience that was. The best $2 (bajan) i have ever spent. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
We both love diving and surfing..and in these warm waters the possibilities are endless. Big thanks to Michael, Alex and Philip at Reefers and Reckers (just accross the road) - night dives where amazing boys! My partner is now no longer afraid :) we took a trip over to Barhsheeba for some surfing., and actually stayed the night in the Round House hotel, overlooking the soup bowel., where is some of the best waves i have ever experienced in my life. Well it is the Atlantic!! we had a fabulous night in the Round House but were happy to return to the tranquility and peaceful waters of the West Coast for snorkelling and chilling.
We're hoping to return before the end of the year & to be honest it cant come soon enough
Our thanks to Velda and Trish who helped to make our stay special and run smoothly.
Was a great vacation, a great place to stay, happy friendly people, and sooooooo relaxing.
What more could you want.

Our initial expectations of this property were understandably based on what the owner wrote about it in her 'description' of the apartment. Words like 'fabulous', 'stunning… More
in response to this review I would like to state the following:
These guests were contacted by myself within a couple of hours or their arrival at the property, which is what I do with each guest, in order to accertain if everything is ok. My housekeeper, Velda, who has been with me several years always handles check in, and I keep in touch with her also, during the entire stay. In their email, they stated they were not happy with certain things, including a missing wardrobe knob ...which needed to be screwed back into the door, a lightbulb that needed replacing and requested new towels. I asked them to please consult Velda on any housekeeping issues, and that they would be resolved within the next few hours. They replied saying that they didn't wish to spoil their vacation any further and would take up any other issues on their return to the UK. I pointed out that as they had just arrived, and all things could be easily rectified it made no sense to do so, when it would then of course be too late to solve problems. Velda called in a handyman, replaced towels with new ones etc. During their stay, it was necessary to call in a plumber, as one bath was draining too slowly. He was there for 2 hours one morning, problem solved, Velda was there to supervise and there was no need for the guests to be present. I was I constant contact with Velda, who was trying her utmost to placate them. On their return to the UK, I refunded their damages deposit in full. It was after this that I received their email with complaints in depth, knowing full well that nothing could now be done. Complaints ranged from the above, to dust on ceiling fans - which had never been mentioned to either Velda or myself - to a dislike of the view from the rear of the property. The view from the rear windows is of Bajan chattel houses, a cricket field and the distant hills, the forward view is of the beach and the Caribbean Sea. The property is in Barbados which is in the Caribbean - this was deifihately something that could not be altered. They also sent me photos of towels which were not mine. They have possibly been left by a previous guest, I can't be sure. The website states that beach towels are NOT provided, and the photos were of beach towels. Velda has been with me for several years, and I trust her judgement. Every guest has a different vision of their ideal vacation, and for each person this comprises different elements, the Caribbean is laid back and this is for most people the core of it's appeal. Any issue raised was rectified within the fastest possible time. The property is efficiently managed and priced correctly for the facilities, amenities and the amazing Caribbean views - be they sea or land. I do hope that the negative comments of these guests, does not colour the judgement of any future clients. Thank you, Trisha

Turtle Beach was ideal for us; it overlooked a small beach and has the most wonderful views of the sun setting below the sea. We loved the fact that the apartment is located on the outskirts of Speightstown which has none of the nightclub scene associated with the south coast. However a ten minute walk took us to some great resaurants, bars and also the local supermarket. We were amazed when we turned right out of the apartment and found a mostly deserted beach. We loved the balcony which received sun from mid morning until it set but also had sufficient shade when it became too hot. The local people were extremely friendly and helpful and we would recommend using the bus service which is incredibly cheap. We also hired a car which is easy to arrange and would recommend visits to Harrison's cave and Hunte's garden. We loved the maid who was very helpful and friendly. When we arrived both drain outlets on the showers were seriously blocked with sand so the water took ages to drain away and we were surprised at the amount of personal item belonging to the owner around the apartment, but these issues did not prevent us having an amazing holiday.
Hello, I am happy that you enjoyed your stay, both in the apartment and the surrounding area of Speightstown.
Yes, the beach is a great spot, and the apartment enjoys wonderful views over the Carribean sea.
I am sorry about the slow drainage issue, which was a recurring problem throughout the building. It's is a problem with sand not having been rinsed off by guests before entering the apartment. This issue has now been resolved, and hopefully will not be recurring for some time!
Thanks for your review, and you would be welcome to return at any time.

This is a nice apartment, but do not expect five star quality as one reviewer has described. The property is full of the owners obejcts and personal memorabilia, which some guests may find a little ov… More
I am sorry to see this review, but not everyone has a similar perspective of what will be their ideal place to stay.
Unfortunately these guests liked neither the property nor Speightstown itself. I could have rejected the review, but did not wish to appear biased. The complaints ranged from everything within and without of my control. The things within my control, would have been easily rectified, but as all, with the exception of one, emerged 4 weeks after departure, this was not the case. The one complaint I actually received during their stay - after I had phoned them to ensure all was good - was the lack of eggcups. They occupied my property for over 2 weeks, and nothing was ever mentioned. I spoke to my housekeeper several times during their stay and was never aware of any issues they had.
These are the first complaints I have received in over 5 years.
My property, Speightstown, and Barbados are all wonderful places to stay, do not let this review colour your judgement :)

"Equisite & Luxurious Accomodation with stylish details"
From the moment we booked the appartment Trisha was a wealth of information and was so very patient with all our questions. The video does not do the apartment justice - Trisha's personal and very stylish touches in the apartment makes it a 5* luxury place to stay. Spacious and very private with a fantastic beach just across the road. One thing to note if you book in September quite a few places are closed as it is considered off season! We hired a car (again, Trisha came to our aid with providing a great car hire company!) and would recommend doing so as there is so much to see. If you are looking for luxury self catering option on the west coast of Barbados this should be your first choice!!
