The Saint Peter Parish region
The Parish of St Peter is located in the north of Barbados and is quite unique as it stetches from the calm tranquil west coast right accross to the rugged crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast. The main town in St Peter is Speightown, and is the second largest in Barbados. A historical place and was once a bustling port for the Island but now has taken on the more relaxed feel and is a charming place to wander around .
Barbados weather is warm and sunny all year with an average daytime high of 75 - 85 F. The rain usually comes in quick showers and the dry season lasts from January to June.
Speightown offers great activities such as watersports and deep sea fishing trips.
There are some great places to eat and to suit all budgets.
Enjoy Bajan fayre and a Banks Beer at the Fisherman's Bar, overlooking the clear blue sea, watch out and see if you can spot a turtle or two !
Enjoy a relaxing breakfast at Island Plates opposite Jordan's supermarket, they also serve daily specials of home-made curries, quiches as well as fruit smoothies, gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. The two ladies in charge of this little gem are delightful.
Don't miss a visit to the Orange Street Grocer, inside seating as well as a shaded area overlooking the sea. Serving breakfast and lunch, there is a great wood burnt pizza oven and serve fantastic pizza. The salads are the best you will taste or just chill with a slice of carrot cake and coffee.
Also try La Bouche in Speightown (close to Orange Street Grocer) very much used by the locals, a bar and restaurant serving local food, if you like Karaoke, then this is the place for you (usually on a Monday night) but check to be sure.
On Friday evenings less than 10 minutes is Moontown in St Lucy. Go and join in the Friday Fish Fry. Locals cook their catch of the day and serve with rice, peas and salad. The warm welcome from the locals and the music adds to a fantastic evening, love the twinkly lights in the trees that light up the night and add a lovely atmosphere.
Highly recommended for lunch or dinner is the beautiful Fishpot Restaurant less than 10 minutes drive in St Lucy. Beautiful laid back setting, great food and service. A must if visiting Barbados. Also visit their sister restaurant on the east coast, The Atlantis hotel, both perfect restaurants to experience. For wonderful food and service for that special occasion, try The Tides in Holetown, you won't be disappointed.
In fact, you will find all the restaurants in Barbados top quality and an enjoyable experience, but please ask if you want more recommendations.
Just a few minutes walk away is the beautiful Heywood's beach, one of the best beaches on the Island, never crowded, perfect for early morning bathe or simply to watch the sun set.

"a fantastic family rental !"
The house was fantastic and would definitely rent again. Everything you saw and had was like the pictures. The walk in shower was brilliant especially after the beach with two children. The beach was just across the road. The children loved the garden and you have everything you need under one roof.
Dear Claire Thank you so much for your review and so pleased you and your family enjoyed the villa and local beach and good to see you like our new walk in shower. We welcome you back to our home when next you visit beautiful Barbados. Regards Maria

"The perfect holiday home in the perfect location"
We stayed at this house in early June last year at the suggestion of a friend of a friend of the owner. What a wonderful find it was. Our party was two couples who have, in all honesty, worked through the all inclusive beach front holidays and were looking for something more relaxed and flexible. Haywoods House proved to provide us with exactly what we wanted in that it offered a base from which to explore the island along with being a dwelling where we could lounge around on our less active days. The house is well fitted out, bright and cool in a quiet area. At least twice a day we would stroll the short distance to the beach, which was always quiet, and then on the short distance to Speightstown which has a wonderful selection of eateries and shops that, whilst Bridgetown is nice but busy, afforded a relaxed shopping and eating experience. We hired a car throughout our stay but this is not a necessity as the "famous" island bus service, you really have to travel on it to appreciate what I mean by this, operates from Speightstown. As a group we were so impressed with this house that we have already booked to stay again in early 2014. If you like to choose your pace of holiday on this paradise island this is the perfect property.
