Home description

This is a lovely 2nd floor penthouse style apartment, one of two by this owner on the site, which occupies the sea facing side of the new Kavacite complex just outside Sozopol. It consists of a large open plan living room/kitchen, hallway, one double bedroom and a bathroom with shower. It is fully air-conditioned and heated.

What makes the apartment special is the 34 square metres of external terracing, accessed from the living room, bedroom and by the kitchen, from which you can enjoy the wonderful sea views across the bay over a glass of wine. You are also only a 50 yards from a mile long strip of fantastic sandy beach where you can sunbathe before dipping in to the warm sea waters and then enjoying a cool beer and a bite to eat in one of the beach bars.

The Kavacite complex itself is small (just 65 apartments) but high quality with a great swimming pool, poolside bar and restaurant and landscaped gardens. The historic town of Sozopol is just 1 mile away with its fantastic fish restaurants, terraced cafes and bars, arts and crafts shops and renowned arts and music festival.

The Black Sea Coast region

The Black Sea Coast is an up and coming destination for people wanting to enjoy sea, sand and sun at value for money prices. There are miles and miles of sandy beaches and warm seas and a cuisine and wine which come as a pleasant suprise. In addition, prices are almost unbelievably low by UK standards.

The climate during the peak season is balmy with average temperatures of 30 degrees, over 10 hours of sun per day, minimal rain and cooling sea breezes. If you can find somewhere away from the main tourist spots - such as Sozopol - you will have yourself a real gem with all the benefits that Bulgaria has to offer without the crowds. Great beaches and weather, good food and wine, and a fair bit of culture too, can all be found on the Black Sea Coast if you know where to look.

Sozopol / Apolonia Beach area

Located on a slender rocky peninsula, Sozopol was founded in 610BC by the Miletian Greeks and is one of the oldest and most charming of Bulgaria’s coastal settlements. In the off season it is a sleepy fishing village favoured by artists and writers but the summer sees it transform in to a popular beach resort best known for its relaxed ambience, sandy beaches and distinctive architecture.

Its cobbled streets and sea-facing terraces are home to numerous small restaurants and cafes which are ideal for taking in the views while digging in to a plate of locally-caught seafood. You can watch the fishermen off-load their catches from the small harbour or take a stroll along the old town's cobblestone streets where you will find a host of traditional stone houses, with their overhanging wooden upper stories topped by red-tiled roofs, stalls, craft shops, art galleries and street entertainment.

If you are a visitor in early September, don’t miss the annual Apollonia International Art and Music Festival which attracts visitors and artists from all over the world. Further afield, 30 km to the north there is the large city of Burgas with its extensive facilities and pleasant boulevards.

To the south, the scenery is spectacular and dramatic with towering cliffs and peninsulars around Cape Maslen, wild beaches at Alepou and Arkoutino and an extensive Nature Reserve populated by many species of migrating birds. Indeed, this region is wonderful for bird watchers and there is a bird reserve and hide on the road between Sozopol and Burgas.
