Villa | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Luxurious villa on tranquil Sovalye Island for those seeking something very special.
The views and sunsets are simply incredible.
With 4 double bedrooms, direct access to the sea, a private infinity pool, sunbathing decks, Villa Augustyn welcomes the truly discerning.
A sea-front position, a stunning view, wake up to the sound of the waves, swim from the property in clear water, enjoy wonderful weather and even fish from your own jetty. Villa Augustyn offers all of this and more.
Designed by an award-winning UK architect to take full advantage of its unique location, Villa Augustyn's design is contemporary with large curved tinted windows occupying one whole corner of the house, within which sits a feature black marble, curved staircase leading all the way to the second floor. There are four en-suite bedrooms in total. Three with balconies on the first floor and on the second floor a master bedroom/bathroom/dressing room with a dramatic full length roof terrace looking out to sea and in one corner a day-bed strewn with Ottoman-style cushions. Beautifully private either for sunbathing or gazing at the magnificent night sky.
The ground floor is open plan with a separate cloakroom and utility room. From the dining area and lounge three large glass doors open onto a full length terrace which sits above an infinity swimming pool. The kitchen is well equipped and has all modern appliances. The Villa is beautifully furnished with all beds, wardrobes, tables hand-made by a well-regarded master carpenter. The eight-seater dining table is a stunning example of his work.
Outside there is a large barbecue and below the infinity pool a vast decked terrace with sun loungers and a shady pergola for outdoor dining. The seating at the end of the pergola is perfectly positioned for spectacular sunsets or just gazing out to sea watching the fishermen or sailing boats pass by.
Landscaped terraces and lit steps lead down to a small private beach area with a jetty where swimming in the warm sea is a must. In the mornings you can even see the foundations of Lycian era buildings that once stood on this site. Now the home to a wide variety of fish to satisfy the keenest snorkeler or fisherman. There is another jetty at the rear of the property where the calm Fethiye bay offers another option for swimming.
The Island is close to Fethiye,15 mins by boat which is an all-year-round working town full of restaurants, bars, good shops and a lively fishing and boating centre.
The Island takes its name from the Knights (Sovalye translates to Chevalier) of St John who occupied the Island, it's believed sometime in the 15th century. There are still many archeological sites dotted about the Island – remnants of houses, walls, mosaics even the remains of a crusader castle.
There are no roads or cars on the Island which can be covered on foot in around a 30 min stroll. You may bump into the odd wild tortoise or local chicken and gazing out to sea turtles and dolphins are often sighted. In spring the meandering paths around the Island are covered in wild flowers with heady scents from the orange trees and bougainvillea. In summer, the peace is broken only by the cicadas and ocean breeze rustling through the trees. There is a beautiful boutique hotel nearby and a new restaurant built on the island's peninsula with spectacular views.
Villa Augustyn provides the perfect setting to relax and unwind but also offers easy access by ferry boat to the restaurants, shops and night-life of Fethiye only minutes away.

The Turkish Aegean Coast region
The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Bordering both the Aegean and Mediterranean regions, Fethiye is home to some of Turkey's best beaches and cultural attractions. Just a short drive from Dalaman Airport, around fifty kilometres away, Fethiye is conveniently placed for an easy holiday in the sunshine – and the sun shines here for more than 300 days a year, resulting in long, hot summers and short-lived winters.
Fethiye's Lycian rock tombs allow you a fascinating glimpse into the area's ancient past. Carved into cliff faces, the tombs are an imposing reminder of a long-ago empire. If you'd like to know more about Fethiye's history, visit the Fethiye Museum or check out the ruins of the Hellenistic Theatre. The ghost town of Kayakoy is also worth a look – this eerie village was abandoned in 1921 and no one has lived there since.
Out and about
Fethiye has some truly wonderful beaches. Try Calis Beach and the picture-perfect Oludeniz Beach, where there are a number of activities to try out such as parasailing and jet skiing. You can also explore the area by boat – why not take a trip to peaceful Sovalye Island. Or you can just take a trip for its own sake – there are plenty of cruise operators willing to take you on a leisurely trip over the blue sea, to nowhere in particular. Fethiye's Gebeler Spa, with its many pools ranging from icy cold to searing hot, is the perfect destination to ease those tired muscles after a day's sightseeing.
The Greek Island of Rhodes is just across the water from Fethiye, and Day trips leave each day during summer months. Head over to shop or just to spend time at one of the island's many restaurants or tavernas. The charming Butterfly Valley, just 20 kilometres from Fethiye, is a hidden spot that's only accessible by boat. As the name suggests, it's full of all manner of butterflies and wildflowers. An enchanting spot for a picnic.
This stunning beach is Turkey's most photographed – and it's easy to see why. It's a busy spot and a popular holiday destination. If you have kids, this is a great place to bring them as the water is warm and shallow, and there are many activities to be enjoyed on the white sands. For the adults, there are plenty of convivial nightspots along the promenade. Because it's very difficult to buy property in this area, housing tends to be very exclusive so a holiday here will be an unforgettable experience.
You'll find this peaceful spot about a fifteen minute drive from Oludeniz. Because it's a nature reserve there are very few commercial developments so anyone wanting that all-important peace and quiet is likely to find it here. The coastline is rockier than you'll see around Oludeniz, but there are a number of sandy beaches tucked away in private inlets. Holidaying here means forgetting about the outside world and just enjoying the peace.
The Fethiye / Sovalye Island area
The tranquil Island of Sovalye is just a 10-15 minute water taxi trip across the water from Fethiye Port. There are no roads on this tiny island, which means no cars, just winding paths through tall pine trees.
The island's coastline, carob and olive trees, bougainvillea and jasmine combine with the peace and quiet to create a truly lovely place - and what's more, Fethiye's amenities are just a short trip away.
