Marsh View (MARSH)
About the home
This pretty self-catering cottage is located in the coastal village of Walberswick on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. The cottage is centrally placed in the charming village for easy access to the two pubs, village shop, gift shops and tea rooms, Walberswick Common and play area. Southwold, with its many attractions, is a walk or cycle ride across the River Blyth, and there is a large network of footpaths to enjoy along the coast to Dunwich.
The cottage was refurbished in 2012 and has a newly fitted kitchen and dining area, which is light and spacious; the dining table and chairs accommodating up to six people. The large sitting room has floor-to-ceiling sliding french doors which allow bright sunlight into the room and offers lovely views over the pretty, well-cared for garden. An electric awning is available should guests feel the need to restrict the sun during the day. The sitting room is comfortably furnished with a sofa, chaise longue and various armchairs, with carpeted floor, decorative Persian rugs and some pretty antique tables.
The cottage offers a ground-floor double bedroom with a tiled wetroom and a spacious ground-floor twin-bedded room with family shower room next door. The bedrooms have good storage and are carpeted with bedside tables and lamps. A wide staircase goes up to the third single bedroom (an additional z-bed can be accommodated in here - please request) and sitting area which gives access, through a glazed door, on to the balcony. The balcony overlooks the living sedum roof and out over the garden and beyond, to the sea. Care should be taken if small children are given access to the balcony as no one should walk on the living sedum roof.
The enclosed back garden is laid to a small area of lawn, with attractive shrubs, and garden furniture is available for sitting out in the summer. The driveway can accommodate up to 3 cars.

The East Anglia / Suffolk region
Looking to get away from it all? Then come and discover the beauty and tranquillity of Suffolk and Norfolk, with their old-fashioned seaside resorts, Blue Flag beaches, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, charming villages and market towns, and miles of footpaths to explore.
There are some great days out in Suffolk. The beaches can be enjoyed all year round and RSPB Minsmere and Dunwich Heath offer access to rare birdlife and acres of heathland. Southwold's iconic pier and lighthouse are a great draw and there are golf courses, sailing clubs, day cruises of the Southern Broads, walking, cycling and crabbing on offer! Suffolk is also a haven for the arts and hosts, among other events, the Aldeburgh Music Festival, and Norfolk, with its miles of stunning sandy beaches, cliff-top walks along the North Norfolk Coastal Path, the attractions of Cromer Pier, pretty seaside villages and market towns, as well as a multitude of stately homes – Blickling, Felbrigg and Holkham Hall to name just a few – will not disappoint for a self-catering holiday!
The Southwold / Walberswick area
Walberswick is the perfect choice for a traditional seaside family holiday, the village being within a few minutes' walk from the sand and pebble beach as well as a short hop to Southwold. The picturesque village green with its swings, hosts a variety of gift and tea shops as well as two highly regarded pubs, both serving food. A thousand acres of heath and marshland around Walberswick are protected as an Area of Outstanding National Beauty (AONB) and there are many beautiful walks in and around the village.
The River Blyth runs through Walberswick and separates Southwold and Walberswick. This can be crossed either by the famous hand-rowed ferry (summer only) or a lovely scenic walk over the Bailey bridge. A major attraction for children in summer is crabbing by the harbour, where bridges and river banks become crammed with buckets and lines!
The delightful Suffolk village of Yoxford is the ideal base for a self-catering cottage holiday enjoying both countryside and seaside. The village itself is nestled among farmland and fields: a haven for walkers, while for birdwatchers the RSPB Reserve at Minsmere is just 6 miles away. The charming seaside town and village of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness are also within a short drive. Yoxford itself is well served, with a village shop and post office, a great choice of excellent restaurants and pubs, and there is also an antiques centre nearby with a wide range of independent dealers, a cafe and gardens.
