With excellent transport links, the North West of England is readily accessible and the two large cities of Liverpool and Manchester provide endless entertainment. In 2008 Liverpool is European capitol of culture and there are hundreds of events throughout the year to celebrate this. There have been many new building erected including the Beatles hotel and the Echo arena. Manchester is a fantastic place for shopping in the both the city centre and at the huge Trafford centre. You can even ski on real snow at Trafford Park or tour the famous Old Trafford stadium, home of Manchester United.
Southport / Birkdale area
Ideal location for those attending Birkdale 2008. Halsall is a small, quaint village which is perfect for a restful nights sleep. Close to the Leeds to Liverpool canal and within walking distance are two fantastic pubs serving great food in a friendly atmosphere. Both The Ship and the Saracen's Head are set on the banks for the canal. Located only a few miles from Ormskirk gives access to a wide range of shops including several supermarkets as well as many restaurants offering a good selection of food. There are also plenty of pubs and bars with a select few open to the small hours of the morning.

Within just a few miles of the M6 and M62 motorways, traveling by car is easy. Both Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon Airport are less than an hour away. Trains from both Liverpool and Manchester city centre stop just a short distance from the property
