Formally known as Fernlea View 2, Fernlea Road 7 is a three bedroom/two bathroom first floor flat is located on the south side of Fernlea Road in the heart of Balham. The open-plan lounge/diner has cableTV, DVD player, two sofas and a large expandable table with dining chairs. Opposite the lounge the separate kitchen is extremely well equipped. Bedroom One has a double bed, Bedroom Two has a double bed and Bedroom Three is a bunk room that offers a double bed with a single above. All rooms have ample wardrobe/storage space. The family bathroom has a high spec white suite consisting of toilet, sink, and full sized bath with shower over and there is an equally lovely high spec family shower room, with toilet, sink and walk in shower.

Where do you start trying to describe London's attractions? The history, the famous locations and buildings, the hundreds of activities to do, the thousands of shows and events on offer...

Even the 'highlights' depend on what takes your fancy. If you're a 'first timer' to London, of course you must see the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament and Big Ben), the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column, Downing Street, St Paul's, The Mall, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Harrods, the British Museum...

But where to stop? Take in a West End show? Of course. Do a cruise down the Thames? Perhaps. What about Madame Tussauds? The London Dungeon? The National Gallery? The Tate? The London Aquarium? London Zoo? Hyde Park? Greenwich? Hampton Court? HMS Belfast? Kew Gardens...

The fact is there are many many sources of information on such things, from websites to Tourist Information, so we shall not even try and do justice to London in a paragraph or two here. It is quite simply one of the world's great cities, where you could spend weeks and still not feel you have seen everything worth seeing. It's all up to you, but one thing's for sure...you'll never be bored!

South West London

Balham, 'Gateway to the South' (as it is affectionately known, after an old Peter Sellers comedy) is 'south of the river'. More specifically it is in the South London borough of Wandsworth, near Clapham. Just like neighbouring Clapham before it, Balham has undergone a massive transformation over recent years. This area is one of THE places to live for London commuters, young families and indeed celebrities such as TV presenter Sarah Beeny, and TV chef Ainsley Harriot.

As well as all the coffee bars, shops and supermarkets you might expect, within a mile radius there are also excellent restaurants ranging from Italian to Nepalese, Thai to Persian, Portuguese to Moroccan and the popular 'Harrisons' (part-owned by celebrity chef Rick Stein). There are bars aplenty too, perhaps the best known being 'The Bedford'. Winner of the Evening Standard award for Best London Pub 2002, the 'Banana Cabaret' part of the Bedford is a famous live music and comedy venue that attracts big names week in week out. This is just round the corner from the apartment!

Tooting Common, Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common are all within walking distance. Nearby Tooting Common boasts the UK's largest open air swimming pool and has tennis courts, a children's playground and plenty of space for outdoor activities.

Balham Leisure Centre with its gym, exercise classes, indoor pool and squash courts is a 2 minute walk away.

Major attractions close-by include famous sporting venues like Wimbledon Tennis, Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium and Twickenham Ruby Stadium, as well as Kew Gardens and Richmond Upon Thames.

St. Georges Hospital is also nearby.

"Excellent apartment"

Everything about the apartment was great - it's location, layout and the facilities provided made for a perfect weekend for everybody. Very comfortable beds. Lovely area to stay - far enough from the centre to be relaxing but close enough to get where we needed to be quickly. The kids loved the park just down the road.

"Great service and the accommodations exceeded our expectations"

My husband and I, along with our son and daughter-in-law and their two children stayed here for 10 days on a recent trip to London to sight see and visit other members of our extended family. We found such easy access from the apartment to the underground and rail station to travel to all parts of London to take in the sights. In the late afternoon we would return to our comfortable accommodations to settle in and prepare dinner in the well equipped kitchen that we had stocked with groceries that were conveniently available just down the street. The large refrigerator was a pleasant surprise as we were expecting a small UK type. We were able to stock it with our wine and beer as well as food! On the evenings that we were too tired to cook we would head out the front door and found we could satisfy everyone's appetites with everything from Starbuck's coffee to hamburgers at the neighbourhood pub to a wide choice of local restaurants. Our grandchildren were delighted when they found we could easily walk to the local park at Tooting Common where they could burn any excess energy at the end of the day. When they returned to their bunk beds in their rooms they were usually too tired to do anything other than sleep even though they had planned to make a fort!
We found every detail was well planned in our accommodation including the towel warmer in the bathroom to ensuring there was enough seating at the dining room table for all of us. Our family vacation was a success even though travelling with different generations is usually a challenge. Having quality accommodations definitely helps reduce stress when travelling. Now if only we could control the weather next time!

"Amazingly Easy, Doable, and Pleasurable"

Our flat was simple, yet perfect. We were within walking distance, an easy stroll, to food, and the Tube. The landlords were available for questions, but they made it so easy that we hardly had any. We all want to come back. NOW!
