The East Anglia region
Situated on the Eastern side of England, East Anglia comprises several counties, the largest being Norfolk. With strong heritage links through the ages dating back to the Iceni tribes, the region offers rich art and cultural experiences. There is an abundance of historic delights including stately homes, castles, magnificent churches and cathedrals. Norfolk's extensive and sweeping coastline provides for a wide variety of interests for young and old alike. Popular activites include watersports, horse riding, walking, cycling, golf, beach games and enjoying the abundance of varied, often rare wildlife in the many nature reserves. Norwich, the capital city of Norfolk, is a magnet for those seeking a diverse and extensive shopping experience. Medieval streets, the largest European open air 6-day market, the pavement cafes, theatres and frequent festivals make this a truly vibrant city where the old city blends well with the modern amenities.
Pollywiggle Cottage is 6 miles from the small market town of Fakenham, where you find a cinema, several good restaurants and pubs, a national racecourse and plenty of shops. Market and auction day is Thursday. The pretty historic village of West Raynham is small yet was once a thriving centre amidst the agricultural revolution in the 1700s. It comprises a winding village street lined with old flint cottages, ancient church ruins and next to the private stately home of Raynham Hall set in magnificent parklands. There are two churches, a small primary school, a children's adventure playground and a village hall with a friendly community of supporters. The village nestles in a truly pastoral and gently undulating farming landscape and well away from main road bustle.

"Lovely, relaxing, quiet and comfortable property"
We have just returned from a lovely week spent at Pollywiggle Cottage as a party of 7 (two families with 3 older children). The property is comfortably spacious, warm and well provisioned - with excellent areas such as the dining area for group shared meals. We would like to thank Marilyn for the generous and welcoming basket containing fruit, biscuits and cake - a very thoughtful touch and for her care in ensuring a pleasurable stay.
Thank-you for this lovely review, which thrills us. We hope you will come and stay again perhaps at a different time of year when all the flowers are out and you don't have to arrive in the dark!

"Perfect Norfolk country cottage with lovely cottage garden to enjoy"
We booked this cottage for extended family for a big birthday celebration. The owners could not have been more accommodating & the cottage was ideal for our group. Well equipped, clean, warm & welcoming.
Thank-you for your kind and positive review. I do hope we can welcome your family back in the not too distant future.

"Very delightful stay."
This is a lovely cottage , well equipped in a beautiful rustic location in deeply rural Norfolk with beautiful vistas of cornfields and woods. The coast is a short drive away and local shopping in Fakenham about 5 miles approx. 10 mins. The garden is perfect for children (keep an eye on the small pond!) and everything has been thought out carefully inside. Unfortunately I did not read the very accurate descriptions carefully enough and the six footers in the family were a little discomfited by the low ceilings and doorways! The charming owner was extremely helpful in settling us in with two very small children.
Thank-you very much for this very positive endorsement of our cottage. We hope we can welcome you back again at some point in the future.

"perfect position for that area of Norfolk and for a gathering"
We loved staying at Pollywiggle as it was so comfortable, well equipped, pretty, charming and characterful. Staircase a bit tricky, don't take big suitcases! Garden was lovely as is the surrounding countryside.
Thank-you for your recommendation - this is much appreciated. Potential guests are always informed of our narrow stairs and photos can be seen on our website. I hope we can welcome you back at a later date.

"Perfect. Just perfect."
Friday night is never a good time to travel and we came from 4 separate counties for a University 'Girls' reunion via snarl ups on the A11 and M25. All stresses vanished when we saw the beautiful wisteria clad cottage. A warm welcome from the owners followed and then we settled to enjoy the large but quaint and totally charming facilities that Pollywiggle Cottage had to offer. The beds were supremely comfortable, the downstairs power shower actually was and the sofas were delightfully squashy.
Moving from the garden was difficult but we managed to shift ourselves long enough for a visit to Holkham Beach and Burnham Market. The weather was amazing, but even if it had not been there were plenty of diversions to be enjoyed....board games, lots of books and a satellite television which never got a look in. We will be back!
Thank-you for this lovely review and we are so pleased Pollywiggle suited your reunion needs. We look forward to welcoming you back!

"Peaceful country cottage break in North Norfolk"
We (four generations of family) stayed at Pollywiggle Cottage for a long weekend break. The cottage was a lovely, relaxing place, with some much appreciated welcoming tea, coffee, cake and fresh fruit. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, the lounge was nice and comfy with a large wood burner. The garden was beautiful, with the wisteria in bloom when we visited.
The stairs in the cottage are steep and narrow, with low ceilings, which is worth bearing in mind if any of the party are less-able. The eldest of us (80s, able to walk, mostly using a stick) was able to manage them relatively easily morning and evening (with one of the rest of us below for reassurance). There's a downstairs bathroom, which meant she didn't need to go back up at all during the day, which helped!
The cottage also came with travel cots and a highchair for the toddler, who was utterly charmed with the whole experience! You can do a circuit of the downstairs rooms (as discovered within 5 minutes), so she raced round and round and round all weekend finding us all. The stairs have a door at the bottom so can be closed off.
There's plenty to do in the area for young and old alike - certainly more than we could fit in in one visit!
Thank-you for your positive comments! We hope we can welcome you back. We have an access policy on our website so that potential guests can check out its accessibility for those who have mobility issues.

"The perfect cottage for Christmas"
We stayed there from 20-28 December, 7 of us in total. The cottage is perfectly equipped to cater for larger group (7-8). We especially liked the wood burner stove which was perfect to make it feel very Christmas like.
Thank-you for your kind review - I hope we shall see you all again!

"Pollywiggle is just perfect! We'll be back!"
Pollywiggle is every get-away-from-it-all dream. Within 30mins you can be at the seaside, visiting a stately home or having an adventurous day out. When we booked all we had to go on was the website and blog. From our first enquiry, we were looked after by the friendly and professional Owners. The cottage is just as beautiful as it looks in the pics inside and out. The kitchen and whole cottage was stocked with all the crockery, glassware, utensils and homely touches you could think of - even towels and linen are provided. It's cosy, very clean and feels well away from everyone else, even though you've got neighbouring houses. Next time we'll be ready for the very steep, tiny staircase and the sloping bedroom ceilings! At night you can see every star in the sky - but being in such a small village means you do need a car as there's no local shop. Families with children who want a garden to run around in, groups of friends getting away or romantic breaks - it's totally perfect for all options. After 10yrs of booking holiday homes it's the first time we've wanted to return anywhere and can't wait to go back.
Thank-you for taking the time to write your very positive review of Pollywiggle Cottage. We look forward to welcoming you back.
