The apartment is tastefully decorated throughout, making your stay comfortable with cosy home touches.

Pretty South Queensferry sits on the shore in the shadow of the two Forth Bridges. South Queensferry is a very pleasant place on the southern shore of the gaping Firth of Forth. The two huge bridges that traverse the Forth to Fife dominate the town.

The Forth Railway Bridge is one of the icons of Scotland. Built between 1883 and 1890 by Sir John Fowler and Benjamin Baker, this bridge is one of the most magnificent feats of engineering ever. It was designed on the cantilever principle, with three towers, each 340 feet high. The bridge, which is 2765 yards long, was opened on 4th March 1890 by Edward, Prince of Wales.

Work began on the Forth Road Bridge in 1958 and it opened in 1964. This suspension bridge is 2000 yards long, with a main span of 3300 feet making it the tenth-longest in the world. Its towers over 500 feet high. The toll bridge carries four lanes of traffic with two walkways.

South Queensferry

A stunning harbour town, South Queensferry has plenty to do and see. Why not visit the local Museum, it commands magnificent views of the two great bridges spanning the Forth. Its collections trace the history of the people of Queensferry and Dalmeny, the historic ferry passage to Fife. Or take a boat tour on the Maid of Forth. Transport links to Edinburgh city center are excellent, with a bus journey of approximately 30 minutes, leaving from the road end. A Train journey to Edinburgh will take approximately 15 minutes from Dalmeny train station, just a short walk from the house. The property is within walking distance of a variety of excellent eating and drinking establishments, boutique seaside shops; a small yacht harbour; Port Edgar Marina, and several sandy beaches.

Golfing and Sailing are available locally. There are various cycling and walking routes in the surrounding area; Boat Trips go to Inchcolm Island with the option of a Jazz or Salsa cruise in the evenings.

Local places of interest include Hopetoun House and Dalmeny House; The Falkirk Wheel along the Forth/Clyde Canal; and Deep Sea World over the bridges in North Queensferry

2014 is the perfect time to visit South Queensferry as this year the 2014 Homecoming and The Bridges Festivals will be taking place. This new festival will celebrate the iconic Forth Bridges and will mark the 50th birthday of a remarkable feat of engineering and one of Scotland's most recognisable landmarks - the Forth Road Bridge.
