The Devon region

North Devon & Exmoor offer the perfect UK holiday setting. Whether you are looking for a weekend break, a romantic getaway or family holiday. There are few places in Britain that lay claim to such a beautiful combination of stunning landscapes. A coastline of spectacular cliffs, secret coves and golden beaches together with a hinterland of wild moorland, sparkling river valleys and lush rolling hills make North Devon and Exmoor a very special place to visit.

With a 171 sq km area of outstanding natural beauty and World Class Status, North Devon is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve because of its blend of special landscapes and wildlife areas, rich cultural heritage and communities that care about it and want to sustain it into the future. North Devon is a truly unique place to visit.

North Devon has managed to maintain a delicate balance between its heritage and modern life. It is a friendly, laid-back and beautiful part of the country.

South Molton

Whitechapel is extremely well placed for exploring the whole of North Devon. We are also situated within an hour's journey of Dartmoor, meaning South Devon is easily within reach too.

Exmoor, one of the smallest of Britain's National Parks, is also known as Lorna Doone country as it is the base of R.D. Blackmore's famous novel of the same name. Amongst the beautiful moorland lie several beautiful villages including Dunster - with its magnificent Dunster Castle. Exford is the ideal base to explore the ancient Tarr Steps and to take part in fishing, shooting and riding. Journey time by car to the moor is approximately 10 minutes.

"Excellent cottage in peaceful location"

Chris was very welcoming when we arrived and very helpful throughout our stay. The cottage was of a high standard and the location was very peaceful. The bird feeder just outside the lounge window was constantly busy with a range of birds - from the mor eusual chaffinches to nuthatches and woodpeckers. There was a number of activities within easy reach - beaches, a zoo, a sculpture park and so on. We had a really good holiday.

"Yet another great week and warm welcome."

Great walks around the farm and local area. Lots of good gardens to visit. So much to visit in the local area that you don't have to travel far. Plenty of good eating places. Don't miss The Stags Head Inn at Filleigh. If you want a quiet peaceful holiday this is the place.

"A warm welcome and a cosy cottage!"

A great place for a break away from it all. Definitely take your wellie boots in winter! Chris really helped me with the booking because my break was last minute and non-standard. He was always there if we needed him. I was sorry I could not stay longer.
