Oozing romance and charm, Bentwitchen cottage lies on the fringes of Exmoor National Park and within a 45 minutes from the rolling Atlantic waves and soft sands of Woolacombe and Saunton Sands. Surrounded by undulating green countryside, and a few miles from the market town of South Molton, this whimsical, wisteria clad barn, with its rustic timber interiors will tempt any family looking for a perfect holiday base.

The interior

The barn has been designed to make the most of the views with the open plan living space on the first floor. A bespoke galley kitchen stands as a central hub overlooking a spacious dining room and cosy lounge complete with wood burning stove. Copper pans hang over the traditional Aga, used for cooking. There is also a two ring electric hob. On the ground floor there are three double bedrooms, each with their own walk in shower. A dressing room connected to one bedroom is also furnished with single bed and can be used on request. The main family bathroom with claw foot bath connects to the hallway and master bedroom via Jack and Jill connecting doors.

Outside there is a sunny patio to while away summer evenings whilst soaking up the beautiful views of the valley, and a lawn garden to the rear. Parking for up to three cars outside the property.

Bentwitchen Barn is a perfect choice for families with slightly older children - its upside down layout is spacious with plenty of room to enjoy each others company. Due to the unusual structure of the upstairs balconies (seen in photographs) this property is unsuitable for children under 8 years of age.

The area

A cluster or barns and cottages make up the tiny hamlet of Bentwitchen, that overlook a lush green valley on the fringes of Exmoor National Park. A walker's paradise and a couple's sanctuary, spend time exploring the miles of pathways that traverse this beautiful landscape. Head to the coast where lazy days out at the beach are within half an hour drive. No trip to Exmoor is complete without visiting the picturesque towns of Lynton and Lynmouth on the North Devon coast, just over 20 minutes – nicknamed “England's Little Switzerland”. A trip on the famous funicular cliff lift is the only way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Enjoy Barnstaple North Devon's premier town with its mix of modern and traditional. Here you will find boutiques, restaurants and the Pannier market where local food producers display their tasty products on a weekly basis. Local produce can also be purchased at nearby South Molton that holds a weekly market, and has a good supermarket, and if you wish to eat out, The Poltimore Arms is just up the road within walking distance.[
