You will have a double and triple bedroom in my 3 bedroom flat next to Grove Park railway station. The third bedroom is occupied by our housekeeper who will keep the shared kitchen and bathroom clean. All rooms have a wash basin and can be locked.

The Space

The flat is in a 1940s art deco block.

Private parking is immediately outside the block of flats.

Off the entrance hall are three bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom.

The double bedroom has a double bed, comfortable seating and a television, so it can be used as a family room.

The triple bedroom has a bunk bed and pull-out underbed. It also has a dining table and 5 chairs so it can also be used as a family dining room.

The kitchen has everything necessary to prepare a family meal - it also has a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

The bathroom has a bathtub with a shower.

Our housekeeper will keep the shared areas clean and tidy during your stay, but will not clean the bedrooms until after you have checked out.

Guest Access

You will have your own front door keys and bedroom keys. You will be able to come and go as you please, but you are asked to show consideration to other residents especially if returning late at night or leaving early in the morning.

Guests will have full use of the kitchen with a 4-burner hob and oven, the only other person who might use the kitchen is our housekeeper, guests have priority use.

The bathroom has a WC, wash basin and bath tub with overhead shower. The only other person who will use the bathroom is our housekeeper. Each bedroom has its own washbasin.

Interaction with Guests

You will be met at the flat either by me or by Dolo, our housekeeper.

Dolo lives in one of the bedrooms so you may see quite a lot of her. She will keep the bathroom and kitchen clean and tidy, and will keep the kitchen stocked with basic breakfast items such as fruit juice, milk, tea, coffee, bread, jams and breakfast cereals.

The Neighbourhood

Grove Park is a commuter suburb of London. It is in Transport for London Zone 4.

The centre of Grove Park is dominated by its Victorian railway station on the mainline from Hastings to Charing Cross. Clustered around the railway station are a number of supermarkets, cafes, shops and restaurants.

Opposite the station, the once derelict Baring Hall Hotel is now being restored, and has reopened as a traditional London pub and restaurant.

Chinbrook Meadows is a short 5 minute walk and is a delightful urban park with a brook babbling through its centre. It contains tennis courts, a basket ball court and two football pitches as well as two well-appointed children's playgrounds and a cafe (with limited opening times).

Getting around

This flat is located NEXT DOOR to the mainline railway station. Four trains per hour depart for central London. Stations served include:

Lewisham 8 minutes - connect for the Docklands Light Railway;

London Bridge 16 mins - connect for the London Underground or walk to Tower Bridge;

Waterloo East 20 mins - connect for the London Underground or walk to the London Eye/South Bank;

Charing Cross 24 mins - connect with the London Underground or walk to Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden;

Cannon Street 23 mins - connect with the London Underground or walk to St Paul's Cathedral.

For local journeys there is a bus station opposite the station.

The best travel ticket for London is an Oystercard. This will allow unlimited travel within Zones 1, 2, 3 & 4 for no more than £7.70 per day. For guests under 16 the price cap is £1.50 with a zip Oyster photocard, but you will need to apply for this at least 28 days before travel.

For a babysitting service please speak to Dolo. Parents can then enjoy a night out together in London.

The flat is ideally located for guests arriving by car from Folkstone or Dover. It is also just one change of trains from Gatwick Airport or Luton Airport.

I can offer airport transfer at the following rates:

Gatwick or Stansted - £65

Heathrow or Luton - £95

But also note that using public transport from Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton is usually quicker and cheaper. Travel from Stansted by public transport is not so straightforward and a single ticket is nearly £30 by train, less by coach.
