The "Domaine de Bellegarde" is a beautiful 19th century stately home (luxury villa) with six acre estate in Soustons, Landes region, just a short distance from the outstanding Atlantic beaches of Soustons, Hossegor, Moliets and Biarritz. This outstanding property offers luxury holidays to the most discerning of British and international clients.

Built in 1900, and entirely restored in 2002-2003, arguably one of the most beautiful houses in the south of France, it is the largest property in the village, and has many qualities one would expect from a luxury residence. It boasts 9 large en-suite bedrooms, a grand reception lounge and hall, spacious dining room, billiards room and anterooms, with high ceilings, original parquet floors and an impressive oak staircase.

The villa is set amongst 2.6 hectares of land, with a heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, century old trees and beautiful mature gardens. It has been renovated tastefully and to a very high standard.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Landes region

South of Bordeaux begins the region of Les Landes. It feels like another world with the coast stretching virtually uninterrupted from the Gironde estuary all the way down to Soustons, Hossegor and Cap Breton before reaching the foothills of the Pyrenées and Basque country. It is remarkably unspoilt, open and natural, the coast is dominated by long stretches of golden sand washed by Atlantic waves. The stretch where the Côte d'Argent turns - quite literally - into the Côte Basque, offers some of the Continent's best surfing. In all there is more than 220km of coastline with 55 supervised beaches.

The coast encompasses a huge variety including: oyster beds and yachting marinas, fishing villages and vineyards, and the highest sand-dunes in Europe. Climb the dunes and before you, stretching as far as the eye can see, lie the pine forests of Les Landes, 1100 km² of pine forest planted during the 19th century.

The 2.5 hectare estate of Domaine de Bellegarde sits on the edge of the attractive village of Soustons, a village in an exceptional position, bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean and its outstanding beaches and on the other side by a large fresh water lake, Lac d'Soustons, suitable for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and swimming.

Soustons is divided into two areas, the town of Soustons, 7 km from the coast, located on the southerly end of a large Lake with an overall area of 700 square hectares and Soustons Beach on the large natural sea fed, salt water lake (with its own beaches & Island) known as the "Lac Marin de Port d'Albret", with an overall area of 51 square hectares.

The pine forests surround Soustons village with numerous cycle trails and walking paths leading to the lakes and beaches. Like most of the south west coast, Soustons is something of an outdoor playground.

There is so much to see and so many interesting places to explore in Les Landes including glorious beaches, grand chateaux, beautiful cathedrals, medieval cities and charismatic small towns. Fortunately, the Domaine de Bellegarde is a perfect base from which to discover this spectacular region of South West France!

Soustons is a vibrant village just 7km from the wonderful ocean beaches and set on the edge of an unspoilt lake of 125 acres with a watersports centre for sailing, windsurfing, rowing & kitesurfing. There are numerous dedicated bike trails linking the villages in the surrounding area with the coast and lakes - ideal for children as they are paved, level and completely safe. The beaches are truly stunning and offer the chance to learn to surf with accredited surf schools as well as patrolled bathing and spotlessly clean beaches!

Visit the cosmopolitan beachside towns of Hossegor (15 mins) & Biarritz, (only 30 mins) both well known for their great shopping, chic cafes and magnificent seafood restaurants plus the beaches and surf!

For something a little more therapeutic and relaxing, visit the wonderful town of Dax. Famous for its natural thermal spas and hydrotherapy, this town is only 20 minutes away.

Of course, not forgetting that surfing in France first started here! The Biarritz Surf Festival brings together surfers from Hawaii, Australia and California every year to celebrate the birth of surfing in Biarritz.

Bayonne, the capital of the region, is just 30 minutes away. The rich historical and commercial past of this town will enchant any visitor. All around the town is evidence of fortifications from Roman Times. The magnificent 14th Century gothic Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. Bayonne is famous for its chocolate and ham, for the excellent Bonnat Museum of Art and for its summer festival (Fetes de Bayonne).

Pau, one and a quarter hours away, is renowned for being the most elegant town that overlooks the Pyrenées. Visit the Chateau de Pau, the 13th Century Notre Dame Cathedral, museums or simply enjoy the stunning views from the cliff tops. Motorsport fans will enjoy visiting the track where the F3000 and French Touring Car Championships have been held, the second oldest track in the world!

And don't forget, Spain is only a 45 minute drive from Soustons. Visit the gorgeous towns of San Sebastian or Bilbao for a little taste of the Spanish life!

Three world class golf courses (voted in the Worlds Top 50) are within fifteen minutes.

The villa and surroundings are easily accessible from motorways, TGV trains from Paris (and the Eurostar from London to Paris), and Biarritz, Pau & Bordeaux airports.

There are eleven regional airports in the UK & Ireland with flight departures to the South West of France including: Birmingham, Bristol, Dublin, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Gatwick, Leeds, Luton, Manchester, Shannon, Southampton and Stansted. We can help you arrange car hire or private transfers at competitive rates. Flights go directly to Biarritz, Bordeaux and Bilbao enabling a speedy and comfortable transfer to the Domaine de Bellegarde villa.
If you decide to arrange your own flights, we are able to advise and book the best transfer to your villa most suited to your needs. Car hire, private transfer by minibus, taxi, train or even helicopter are a few of the possibilities available. We can recommend a professional and reliable service for your transfers from the airport to the villa at competitive rates.

Train:
Eurostar to Paris & TGV to Dax - Why not combine your holiday in the Domaine de Bellegarde with a couple of days sightseeing in Paris! We can advise on a superb hotel and then you board the TGV train from Paris to Dax. This direct service leaves from Paris Montparnasse at 10:10am and carries you straight to Dax in just 4 hours! On arrival in Dax, we will meet you and transfer you in just 20 minutes to the Domaine de Bellegarde.

Conditions

BOOKING AND PAYMENT
A deposit of 300 Euros per person is required if you book more than 10 weeks prior to departure. The deposit is non-refundable. Deposits may be claimable on insurance, subject to terms. All money paid to your travel agent will be held by the agent on our behalf.
We accept payment by cheque, direct bank transfer and credit card. In line with most tour operators there is a charge for use of credit cards of 1.25% (Visa and Mastercard) Payment will be taken in Euros.
It is an express condition of booking that you have travel insurance offering at least the same level of cover as that offered by the insurance company linked on our website. No liability will be accepted by Qsun Limited for any clients travelling without adequate insurance. Insurance must be booked and paid in full at the time of booking your holiday.
Unless any discrepancies are brought to our attention, once you have received our invoice it will be deemed that you have accepted this booking contract and the important information on behalf of all those on your booking. Please note that all telephone and website quotes are subject to our written confirmation.
Names for those in your group must be provided (correctly as they appear on passports) at the time of booking for any holiday using scheduled flights. For those using charter flights names should ideally be provided at the time of booking.
FINAL PAYMENT
Final payment is due 10 weeks before your departure and if we do not receive the balance by this date we reserve the right to cancel your holiday and the cancellation charges shown the cancellations and amendments section will apply. We do not issue reminders for final balances. Full payment is required if booking within 10 weeks of departure. All names must be supplied no less than 10 weeks before departure (for those using a Travel Agent's transport services).

We have all the necessary equipment for families with small children including three cots, three high chairs, steriliser, dedicated microwave, quality baby bath, baby monitor and plenty of games, books and equipment suitable for young children. We also provide swimming pool play craft to be used under adult supervision as well as every kind of garden play equipment for a range of ages.

The first time we spent from Monday to Friday and were so impressed that we rented the whole property for a weekend so that we and 6 of our friends could celebrate my husbands birthday. This was a fabulous weekend with mouthwatering food and brilliant wines. The owners had even remembered and provided my husbands favourite wine! This is a most beautiful property with luxurious facilities and beautiful outdoor activities. The owners were more than accommodating with nothing ever being of too much trouble. In fact we have since taken the liberty of calling in for a coffee and to say hello when we were travelling to Biarritz.
