La Grange
About the home
La Grange is a lovely converted barn which was converted and renovated by the owners about 4 years ago. The original parts of the buildings date back to the 18th century and although they have been carefully brought into the 21st century, period features such as exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces mean that guests are still able to appreciate the character of what was once part of a working French farm.
Each of the 6 bedrooms has an en-suite, there is gas central heating throughout, oak beams in almost every room and all the modern appliances needed to make you feel at home.
La Grange is set in a small hamlet in the rural landscape of inland Normandy, an hour’s drive South of Caen ferry port and close to Vallee de la See. Normandy Grange is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, lush green fields and stunning French countryside. The market town of Sourdeval, with its shops, restaurants and bars is less than 3 miles away, while the larger town of Vire, with even more facilities including a golf course, is about 12 miles away.
The province of Normandy has got something for everyone, with a huge coastal region going from the monastery island of Le Mont St Michel to the port and resort town of Dieppe it boasts some amazing sandy beaches, and for those of you that want a bit more action there is walking, kayaking, golfing, fishing, bungee jumping and much much more.

Fishing
Normandy is a land renowned for its green landscapes, its horses, cider and cheeses with one added rare asset - its rivers. Normandy is at present one of the best regions in France to fish for salmon, and is undisputedly the best region for sea-trout. Its rivers contain the famous brown trout, the growth rate of which is one of the fastest in France. The lakes, "marsh lands" and other rivers in Normandy all tend to have good quantities of pike and other carnivorous fish.
Golf Courses
Normandy is blessed with the geography and climate of a golfer's paradise. Of 37 diverse courses which are open year round, 23 have 18 holes or more.
Castles
France possesses a splendid array of castles, Renaissance châteaux and mansions, some of the best examples of which can be found in Normandy, ranging from the forbidding medieval fortress to the hospitable half-timbered country residence with its thatched roof.
Lac de la Dathée
Set in the open countryside 4 miles South of Vire, the beautiful Lake Dathée is circled by footpaths enabling peaceful walks (it takes about an hour and a half to walk around the entire lake), and for the more adventurous kayaks, canoes and sailing boats can be hired. There is also a golf course next to the lake, it is currently a 9-hole course but is undergoing extensive upgrading and will be open in 2007 as an 18-hole course.
