The Midi-Pyrenees / Lot region
The Departement of the Lot is a peaceful haven, whilst still boasting major towns such as Souillac to the west, and Cahors to the south ,as well as the thriving Brive la Gaillarde to the north.
For adults there is an abundance of walking tours and canoeing is popular along the reaches of the Dordogne river. One of France's most visited spots, Rocamadour, the famous village literally built into the rockface, is only 15 minutes away.
Souillac country club has an 18 hole parkland golf course only 20 minutes away whilst Montal golf course is about an hour away.
Souillac / Meyronne St Sozy area
Less than 15 minutes drive away is the 12th Century town of Souillac, with two major supermarkets and every shopping amenity. Rocamadour is 10 minutes drive.
There are many places of interest for the whole family.
Grottos and caves are dotted around the area, with La Cave being only 10 minutes away and Padirac 15 mins away. Each has a tour organised each hour.
Festivals take place in every town and village in the area, starting in June and ending in September.
For children there are any number of outdoor aquatic parks with one of the biggest being in Souillac. Don't miss the monkey retreat near Rocamadour or the prehistoric recreated village "Prehistologia" near Martel. Rocamadour also has an incredible indoor show for children taking place every hour in the Season. And there is the "Parc Animalier" near Gramat, home to many endangared wildlife.
Souillac boasts an unusual museum where you can see the very first mechanically automated machines, a precursor to our modern day robots. The local market takes place every Friday, and if you are lucky to come to Souillac in July, you will be able to enjoy a week-long Jazz Festival.

Guestbook
We loved the fact that we could walk down to the river and across the bridge to buy our bread......
With the Meyronne hill and the river cliffs overlooking the cottage it is a delightful setting
How peaceful it is here...
Rocamadour the cliff village is why we came ........to follow the pilgrims route
Thank goodness for someone who really has a fully enclosed pool which young children cannot get into...peace of mind!
