Home description
This house is ideal for couples, sharers or families wanting to relax by the river.
Walk only 250m to the beach or simply make the most of the sun loungers in the private garden. Views over the river include a nature reserve known for its variety of bird life, resident and migratory, and with walks through to the beach. Flamingoes use the river for resting during their migration.
For the more active, El Octogono Beach Club (minutes walk from the house) offers swimming pools, tennis by the Marina and a restaurant. Sailing and windsurfing activities organised by the Sailing Club are available on the river during summer. The river and sea are safe for swimming and there are lifeguards on the beaches during high season.
Sotogrande is a golfers dream, with several top golf courses including internationally renowned Valderrama and the Royal Sotogrande Club which is located 5 minutes away.
The house has been a second home to the same family since it was built in the 1980s and is comfortable, functional and well equipped, located in one of the most highly sought after areas in Sotogrande.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The house is geographically a great base for exploring Andalucia, its pueblos blancos, historical towns and modern cities such as Ronda, Casares, Jimena de la Frontera, Castellar de la Frontera, Marbella, Estepona, Manilva, Grenada, Cadiz and Jerez.
There are regular ferry trips from Algeciras and Tarifa for those wanting a taste of Africa in a trip to Tangier. A 25 minutes drive takes you to the tax free shopping centre of Gibraltar, its labyrinthine caves and home of the famous apes.
Sotogrande is one of Europe's most luxurious sporting and residential developments located on the coast near the Straits of Gibraltar. Its marinas create an inland Venice-like canal system. Sotogrande offers a wonderful option to combine seaside relaxation, watersports and sailing with land based activities like polo, golf, horse-riding and birdwatching.
Within Sotogrande lies the Guadiaro estuary, a protected natural area of 27 hectares of marshland on the west bank of the estuary at the mouth of the River Guadiaro. It is of particular interest to birdwatchers, but anybody can enjoy a stroll along the wooden walkways. English newspapers can be bought at the shop down the road (next to the Doctor's surgery); and bikes and films hired from from Paniagua, 4 minutes drive away, close to the Pharmacy.
The nearest supermarkets, mainstream bars, cafes, restaurants offering amongst others, Spanish, Argentinian, Italian, European, Japanese cuisine, are in Pueblo Nuevo de Guardiaro, just over 5 minutes drive. Alternatively, as you leave the house, simply walk to the other side of the road to the Marina cafe and enjoy its food, coffee, take away sandwiches, and on Sunday combine it with browsing the stalls of the artesan market.
The atmosphere at Sotogrande Port, a few minutes drive from the house, is laid back with the nearby moorings lined with a whole range of restaurants, bars and shops to browse in.
How to get there
Gibraltar Airport - direct flights from UK with BA, Easyjet and Monarch - is 25 minutes drive from the house.
Malaga Airport - direct flights from UK with BMI, Easyjet, Flybe - is 1 hr 20 minutes drive from the house (via autopista toll road).
Malaga rail station - take Eurostar to Paris then the overnight tren hotel to Madrid. Change onto the high speed train connecting Madrid to Malaga.
