The Campania region
The tourist localities of Sorrento Peninsula with their features cliffs, baies and inlets, rise in the heart of the Gulf of Naples, nearby Vesuvio’s vulcans and very famous tourist resorts, archeology and thermal such as Capri, Ischia, Pompei, Ercolano, Positano, Amalfi, all reachable by sea or by car in less than 1 hour The brief distance from Sorrento Peninsula to the above mentioned localities offers to the tourists unforgettable excursions and is an ideal place to spend holidays, due of the mild climate, during any season of the year. Joining Sorrento Peninsula by land, the first locality you meet is Vico Equense where is possible to admire castles perpendiculary the sea and to reach hills and top of mountains. After Vico Equense next town is Meta di Sorrento, an important trading centre that preserves his rural and ancients streets surrounded by high walls and secular citrus fruits trees. After Sant’Agnello di Sorrento buildt an tuffa coast which joins Sorrento Peninsula with the famous Amalfi coast. The city of Sorrento praised as “Terra delle Sirene” (Land of the Mermaids), international tourist resort also great meeting point of historical events. The last city situated in Sorrento Peninsula is Massalubrense, looking very closely to the very famous island of Capri. Natural oasis with so many foot-passengers situated between ancients homlets and archaeology areas. Massa Lubrense has a very beautiful panorama from where is possible to admire the enchanting bayes of Puolo and Nerano with their great beaches.
Sorrento area
Massa Lubrense is an ideal place for a great holiday, more than 100 km of marked trails in the country side, country landscape, famous for its cuisine (7 restaurants in the top 20 of Campania, one of the best 3 in Italy), a coastline almost 20 miles long in the middle of the Protected Marine Area of Punta Campanella.
The shores of Massa Lubrense are the closest to Capri (only 3 miles away) and you can reach Positano (13 miles), Amalfi (25 miles), Pompeii (21 miles), Ercolano (28 miles), Vesuvius (30 miles) and obviously Sorrento (3 miles) in less than one hour.
How to get there
Fly to Naples airport "Capodichino". Drive to Sorrento and straight to Massa Lubrense - Marina del Cantone -. Local Buses run regularly from the Airport to Sorrento. There are local taxis available anytime. Price range from 80 to 120 Euro.
