Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 6
In the summer, when the sun hesitates longer before giving way to the moon, there is nothing more enjoyable than a walk in the village of Marina Grande, especially if the road ahead allows you to immerse yourself in a timeless world with its rhythms and its traditions. The stone steps from the medieval flavour connects the historical center of Sorrento to Marina Grande. Here is Aurora resort, right on this ancient street, at just 10 metres from the sea.
The apartment, recently fully renovated, is completely furnished in order to make your stay pleasant and relaxing. Aurora resort has two double bedrooms (one with a mini-fridge), a living room, two bathrooms and a kitchenette. Every room is equipped with everything is necessary (pillows, sheets, towels..).
The living area hosts a comfortable double sofa bed, a table, chairs and a TV.The kitchenette is equipped with gas stoves, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, dishes and everything else the guests could need during their stay. Pets are welcome (as long as they are polite).
Aurora resort offers air-conditioning in every room, even if the temperature in the apartment usually remains agreeable even in August. This is a specific characteristic (obviously well appreciated) of this ambience, used by the fisherman's until the first half of the 900's as storage deposits for their boats and nets.
The view from the apartment is simply breathtaking (the pictures are better than a thousand words).
The price includes water, electricity, gas.....and even some gastronomic spoils from the owner. If you need it you can have a cot and high chair available.
Aurora Resort is the ideal for the ones who want to experience a piece of the genuine, true ancient Sorrento's life, feeling themselves at home, enjoying every time they want the marvellous sea views that Aurora resort and Marina Grande offer.
PS.: A Car here is not recommended. There are buses running to and from the center of Sorrento, as well as a walking path. Marina Grande is in the historical center and the access to the car is often restricted. There's a parking at 500 meters (20 euros per day)

The Campania region
Marina Grande is the perfect location to sense the naturalness of Sorrento. This old pictoresque fishing harbour, with his own traditions (like the celebrations for S.Anna, at the end of July), his characteristic small shops, his old narrow streets, his fragrances, create a unique true Mediterranean atmosphere.
The city of Sorrento and its neighbouring cities, provides the tourist numerous historical and cultural sites to visit.
The Basilica of Saint Antonino
Erected during the X Century in honor of the patron saint of the sailors, the Basilica of Saint Antonino stands in the historical centre of the city, in front of the Municipal House (Town Hall). The history of this famous church is as interesting as troubled: in 1300 it became the residence of the "Battenti Brotherhood", or better a heretical movement that took its first steps in Naples, while in the XVII century an impressive restoration has been carried out by the Theatin Brothers, a religious institute of consecrating life.
The impressive building has been erected in the XI century and it numbers among its beauties some frescos of renowned Neapolitan artists. At the top of the tower you can admire an excellent clock tiled with majolica.
The Cloister of San Francesco
The most delicious among the Sorrento monuments is certainly the Cloister of San Francesco. Being renovated many times, the Cloister shows a characteristic mixture of architectural styles, which go from the late gothic to the Renaissance, while the adjoining dining hall preserves all its trecento peculiarities.
Correale Museum of Terranova
In a wonderful palace that overlooks the Gulf of Naples, by the central Lauro Square, it's housed the Correale Museum, which, among its rarities, numbers a singular collection of inlaid furniture, majolics and ceramics of Capodimonte, as well as different paintings of Neapolitan artists.
It's an ancient building in which the old nobility of the town used to gather in order to legislate and make important decisions in administrative and economic fields. The monuments is enriched with a glazed dome that encloses the arcade.
Sorrento is also a perfect gateaway to reach the other tourist attractions of the area, like the unique acheological sites of Pompei and Herculaneum, the wonderful city of Naples and his history and traditions, the famous impressive Vesuvius volcano, the legendary island of Capri, Ischia and his world-known thermal baths, Procida and his fascinating naturalness.
