BookThe Campania region
..Campania is a region of southern Italy with Napoli capital.
This is one of the most popular regions for history, art, culture and landscapes. Its history dates back to ancient Greece when the first settlements occurred along the coasts of the region leading to the creation of places such as Kyme (Cumae), Parthenope and Neapolis, then the first (Naples) and Poseidon (Paestum). In this context, the Campania region became one of the most important cultural centers of Magna Graecia contributing to the influence that it has over the centuries the Roman society and Western civilization [5]. Subsequently, the region sees a succession of different cultures and foreign domination: the Roman Empire, the Byzantines, then by the Angevins to the Aragonese up to the Bourbon period by which the region (and in general throughout the south), becomes the main pole cultural, artistic and economic, housing what was then the capital of one of the richest and most important kingdoms of the world: Naples.
Located in southern Italy, Campania is wet in the west and south-west by the Tyrrhenian Sea, bordered to the north-west, Lazio, Molise to the north, the east by Puglia and Basilicata.
Naples, one of the oldest cities in Europe with its 27 centuries of history holds the record for the city with the largest center of the continent [8] [9], is the regional capital. The other provincial capitals are: Avellino, Benevento, Caserta and Salerno.
Campania is the Italian region with the largest number of items included in a UNESCO site.
In 2007, Vesuvius was a finalist in the selection for appointment of the new seven wonders of the natural world
The Sorrento, Campania / Sant'Agnello di Sorrento area
In each of these definitions contains the truth because, actually, Sorrento is a pretty little city where kindness and hospitality are a combination that is handed down from generation to generation. Sorrento, not rhetoric, it is indeed the land of colors: brilliant or delicate hues depending on the change of seasons. Just stop and observe what may be a fascinating glimpse into the sunset losing How many legends are told about these invasions, legends, almost always linked to the Sorrentines have great devotion to their patron Saint Antonino and their well-grounded faith. Just go into the crypt of the Basilica, dedicated to St. Anthony in fact, to be deeply affected by the amount of ex-votos offered to the patron, and read the back stories, more or less sad, a simple and industrious people affected, over time, from different cultures. Many civilizations have passed through here: the Etruscans, the Greeks (who gave the city its urban layout still clearly visible today in the historic center), the Oscans, the Romans. Later the subjugation to Byzantium, the sack by the Lombards, the Norman conquest, the good influence of Aragonesidirezione Punta del Capo, of Ischia or Procida, Sorrento is today a modern city with over one hundred comfortable hotel, is home the prestigious and rich Museum Correale, that contains important testimonies of the city's history. From the 18 th century, Sorrento became famous for its great craft tradition of inlaid wood, some examples of great value can be seen at the Museum Shop of Wood Inlay is an ancient palace of the eighteenth century.
